Great, now I just know the Random Number Generator is going to do just that and I'll look like a right berk.

I'm thinking Wednesday might be best. And yeah, anything goes on the gift, just don't tell anyone other than me what it is.
-
Assuming all goes to plan. Tuesday.

Tales of the Abyss on the 3DS has surprisingly good stereoscopic 3D for what is a PS2 port. Seriously good 3D there.

You're more right than you know. Actually @Dcubed, no it isn't. You've been hanging around ResetEra too long because no-one on N-E thought Geno was getting in. Too right as well, Geno is so far down the list of Square characters, he's practically invisible. He's not even the most important original character in Mario RPG anyway. Mallow has more screen time then him. Geno sucks. People only like him because he's an edgy character in a Mario game. But his personality is as wooden as he looks.

Am I the only one who's ecstatic that they're finally fixing Battlefield's music problems? I can have Smash music on a Smash stage again! I've been hoping for ages that a Boss Rush would get added to Ultimate, but then I get the Monkey's Paw and get a Boss Rush that's missing the WoL exclusive bosses and can only be played with Sephiroth... Other than that, it all looks great! Supernova is proper scary, getting reversed controls or stunned is basically a death sentence!

It seems like you don't. The devs say that it's a completely separate story. Think of it like how you don't need to play Final fantasy VI to enjoy Final Fantasy VII. Most you'll probably miss out on is a small reference or two, would be my guess.

I'm gonna have to bow out of tonight. Won't be able to get online until Tuesday.
-
Well, yeah. How else did you expect to get the stuff to me in secret? Oh right, I might as well let you and everyone else know that I'm gonna have to postpone the party anyway. Won't be able to get online until Tuesday at the earliest. So it's gonna have to happen then. Hope that's OK.

Fun fact, Grovyle is one of very few Pokémon that have been depicted in three different colour schemes. And if you count slight differences, then it's four. Peony wanted to see a Necrozma, so I tried to be clever and showed him the one I caught in Ultra Sun. Apparently, it's not good enough, because he only wants to see one caught in Galar. You'd think when it comes to prismatic abominations from another dimension, he'd be less fussy about it... Considering I'm aiming for a Shiny one through Dynamax Adventures, that might take a while.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade of Light (4th December 2020)
Glen-i replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Any Fire Emblem that has a Warp Staff is absolutely ripe for Speedrun Comedy! -
You play DKC 3 at Christmas time and don't use the "MERRY" code? What's wrong with you!? Oh right, yeah. We were at Screech's Sprint. Close to the standard ending. Luckily, I think enough time has passed that going back to get the Bonuses we missed won't feel as repetitive. I'll have to see when Sephiroth drops in Smash tomorrow. I'll get back to you once I know.

It's amazing what one completely cosmetic cheat code can do.

Well yeah, pretty much, present day Donkey Kong doesn't share his banana hoard. The Kremlings were just trying to redistribute the food supply. They did nothing wrong. They even tried to remove him from power by abducting him. But a certain dopey chimp and his girlfriend decided to rescue him. Nice job, "heroes".
-
Because Cranky actually does show up in Smash. But that's precisely where I put them? (Except Link, BotW was a WiiU game that changed to a Switch port mid-development. The WiiU version still came out. In those situations, I go for the console that the game was originally intended for)
-
Actually, it was @Jonnas who insisted on Roy in Gamecube. I wanted him on GBA because I didn't think Smash should count in any of these tier lists. Someone else chimed in, backed Roy in GameCube, and majority ruled. As for Hero, I remember having the exact same issue with Dr. Mario. I broke that stalemate by using the first non-Japan date determine where he goes. So I did the exact same thing with Hero. And seeing as the 3DS version never left Japan... Anyway, off-topic. (Not to Smash, mind)

If you're not gonna take this very important matter seriously, can you even call yourself enthusiast? Donkey Kong's origins are very important!
-
OK fine. First paragraph states it clear as day. Even refers to Mario. BTW, that means DK Jr has to be DK's dad.
-
Oh me too! Pointless debates are the best. As well as the red tie @Hero-of-Time mentioned, the instruction booklet for DKC literally says that Cranky Kong was "the original Donkey Kong who battled Mario in several of his own games" He's also described as DK's grandad. He's missing the curly hair modern DK has as well.

That said, for all the headdesk moments Dynamax Adventures with randoms has, it's a fantastic feeling when you run into someone who employs some strategy. I had a Sceptile with X-Scissor and was fighting a Psychic Type. Someone with a Mr. Mime noticed this, realised I was more useful for that fight and switched their strategy up to start using Helping Hand on me instead of doing chip damage with Psychic. Expert shift there! Massive thumbs up!

I'm not sure I understand what you're driving at. Aren't you just reaffirming that Cranky Kong is a different gorilla to modern day DK? Which would mean that DK debuted in a SNES game? The origins tier list is meant to sort each particular character by the console of their debut, which is why the Zelda characters are sorted as such, as well as DK. Arcade DK is a different DK to DKC DK, much like how Link is not the same person as Toon Link, who isn't the same person as Young Link.
-
I don't buy that. I know a lot of kids and they are a lot smarter than you'd think. I'm not expecting some epic strategic plays, I usually have that covered, but I at least expect people to go with the Super Effective label when it's there. The amount of times I've seen non-sensical attacks chosen is maddening. I'm paying attention to every moveset that people choose in these things. I know their options. That said, I do enjoy it in a sort of masochistic way.

With Calyrex caught, I've delved back into Dynamax Adventures. First group has two people choose water Pokémon (One Water/Ground) and then the group decides it'd be a great idea to fight the Grass type first. Idiots...

Friend Codes, Fruit, Trading and Photo Thread For Animal Crossing
Glen-i replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I actually know something about this. Simply put, when you talk to an Animal that's moving away from a friend's town. It gets added to a sort of, well let's say "queue". Next time you have an empty plot and don't get a new animal from a Nook Ticket Island Tour. Nook will dig into that queue and choose an animal from that. So assuming you don't talk to any other animals that are moving away in the future, Stinky will eventually take one of your empty plots. It might take a while, I remember seeing that the queue is 3 animals long. -
It's established that there are many different Links and Zeldas in their series. Link in BotW is not the same person as Link in The Wind Waker. If they were the same person, Toon Link would have to be in NES, and that's just super wrong. Mario, on the other hand, is the same person throughout all of his games, with the sole exception of the Paper Mario games, which take place in an alternate universe inside a book. (Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam explicitly states this) If Cranky Kong ever got into Smash, then he would go straight into arcade, but DK in Smash is his grandson, and his first debut was in Donkey Kong Country. Jump Man is Mario, a name change does not change the actual person. Just like Cranky Kong himself, being Cranky Kong doesn't mean he wasn't ever Donkey Kong back then.
