  1. Thanks for your help guys. Its working perfectly. Just incase this sort of thing happens again, do you have a link to any page which explains each selection in the firewall. I'd like to learn what everything means. Thanks again.
  2. Hi all, Whenever I try to play CSS, it continually looks for servers and when I stop the refresh, it says: "Could not connect to master server". Whenever I turn off my software firewall (Kerio Personal Firewall), everything works fine. The problem is, I have no idea how to use the packet filter in the firewall to let something of my choice through. Could someone explain how I can get the game to work please (and if possible, the different sections of the packet filter for future reference)? Thanks; all help is appreciated .
  3. Alright, thanks for the help guys I'm pretty sure i'm going to go for the Xtreme Music. However , I have had one or two people recommend this to me: http://www.auzentech.com/site/company/press.php - The Auzen X-FI Prelude 7.1. Sounds fantastic, but then again, I've never really thought about anything other than Creative soundcards. The card isn't out yet, but should I go for the music, or wait for this? Thanks again .
  4. Hey all, I'm currently in the process of building a new PC. The thing is, I cant use my old soundcard any more (for one, I hear crackling at full volume, for another: I need a coaxial/digital input for my new headphones (X-TATIC 5.1). Basically, these are the 5 to consider... I think (any other suggestions?). • Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic • Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional Series • Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum • Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty • Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro The cards above are the only cards capable of coaxial/digital input. The cards in bold are a leap up in price range as they come with an X-Fi I/O Drive Upgrade: The Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic and the X-Fi Extreme Gamer Fatal1ty are not in bold as they comes on their own (there is another upgrade to give it coaxial/optical input – see below). None of the cards above actually have build in coaxial/digital inputs but need an extension such as the one above (the x-fi extreme gamer normal version is not compatible with any of these). There is a cheaper version of the upgrade kit above which is simply a coaxial/digital input/output extension: Sound Blaster Digital I/O Module. Therefore, I would ideally like to get the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music or the X-Fi Extreme Gamer Fatal1ty along with the Sound Blaster Digital I/O Module (not sure what the differences are - any ideas?) That is unless you guys can highly recommend one of the others over the X-Fi Xtreme Music. Basically, I would really like to know the differences between each card. (n.b. The new PC will be for high quality gaming and music, therefore this choice is quite important for me) Thanks guys.
  5. I had to have stitches at 7 because a fat kid fell on top of me and my head was smashed into the ground. I love Dr. Tran. He's the man! I used to be scared of the Countdown themetune.
  6. I'd be the urban legend. The shell of a man who lives in the sewers and sends trained rats up people's toilets to steal any leftover food for my meals...oh and I have a huge organ down there on which I play emo music in the blackness of the night...
  7. Waking up to the sound of your parents gettin' it on...

  11. Just chose my A Levels for next year (Bio, Chem, ICT, English) and I want to get a medical degree and then go into medical research later on.
  12. Can I just check, how well will a current motherboard fare with future DX10 cards (eg. 1/2 years from now)? Will there be any chance of bottlenecking? Also, if I do happen to come into a large amount of money in the future, will said motherboard be able to support DX10 Crossfire/SLI?
  13. I've been thinking about cooling a lot. Would you say that it would be a wise decision to go water cooled? That is to say if I do overclock the CPU... I have looked around and decided that if overclocking is the way to go, I'll need a damn good case and, looking at a back-issue of Custom PC, one of the coolest cases is the Cooler Master Stacker 830: http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2006/02/22/CMStacker_830/1.html I've also found what looks like a decent water cooling kit, the Thermaltake Bigwater SE: http://www.tweaknews.net/reviews/waterse/ So, do you guys suggest water cooling, and if so are these good pieces of kit? : peace:
  14. Hi all, Basically, I want to get a new gaming PC for my birthday but I’m having a lot of trouble deciding on components as I have never attempted to build a high-end system before. I am going to be getting the components and then putting the PC together myself, that way I can save money that I would have had to spend on a pre-built system and put it towards an ultimately more powerful computer. I already have 2 IDE hard drives, a DVD drive and 1gb of ram (I’ll be buying another gig for this PC). The rest of the components are going to my brother. First of all is the processor and motherboard. Before I can select the MB, I need to select a CPU, but I’m having a hard time choosing. I’m pretty sure I want to go AMD but I’m not sure whether to go single or dual core (keeping in mind that I want to stay underneath the £200 mark for a CPU). I was hoping you guys could help me decide. I know that at the moment it would be better to go single core for gaming, but I know that upcoming games are going to use a lot of multithreading e.g. “As I've mentioned before, we're still deep into PC-specific optimization on both the CPU and GPU sides, so I can't give anyone specific recommendations yet. But I can say that investing in a multi-core (either dual- or quad-core when available) will be money well-spent. Bioshock is heavily multithreaded.†-Chris Kline, Lead Programmer, Bioshock For graphics, I’m thinking about either a GeForce 7950 GX2 or a Radeon X1950 XTX. For sound, I’m pretty sure I’ll buy a Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Pro. As for cooling and a case, I haven’t decided yet. I’ll choose a PSU last. So that’s about it, any comments would be appreciated. My main problem is deciding on a processor (bearing in mind that I will want to upgrade to DX10 eventually), I also have absolutely no idea what to look for in a mobo. Sorry if anything I’ve said sounds ignorant, I’m sure I’ve made a few mistakes.
  15. The South African anthem always brings a tear to my eye. Its a beautiful song and I swell with pride whenever I hear it. What is amazing is that it employs 4 different languages of SA: English, Xhosa, Afrikaans, Sesotho, and Zulu. Its called: Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika (God Bless Africa) http://youtube.com/watch?v=NsWwz9UmjVk
  16. Is it just fiction you dislike or do you not read books in general?
  17. QFT "Flip-O-Rama" I don't really have a definitive favourite but a book I highly recommend is The Afghan by Frederick Forsyth.
  18. Hmm this is a tricky one. I know exactly which games to put in the list but it's hard to choose an order... 1. Assassin's Creed 2. Bioshock 3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl 4. Project Offset (am I the only one? ) 5. Spore 6. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars 7. Super Mario Galaxy 8. TLOZ: Phantom Hourglass 9. Disaster: Day of Crisis 10. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl Those are the only games that i'm am absolutely sure to get this year at the moment. As far as Crysis goes, I think that its a game made to play at optimum system settings and i'm not splashing out on a brand new high-end rig just for one game.
  19. A female journalist goes out to Kuwait to do a story on gender roles, just before the outbreak of the Gulf War in 1991. She notes with some dismay that the women of the country customarily walk about 10 feet behind their men. Several years later the same journalist returns to the country to see if there has been any change in these gender roles. She is surprised to find, on her return, that the men now walk ten feet behind their women. Amazed at this, she approaches a young lady. 'This is marvellous,' she says. 'What enabled the women here to effect such a reversal of roles?' 'Simple,' the young woman replies. 'Land mines.'

  22. Hey all. Little algebra problem I'm doing simultaneous equations and have these two questions remaining: x+y= 3 xy = 2 and x-y = 3 xy+10x+y= 150 Any idea on how I actually work these out? Thanks
  23. Mr. Ressetti PERIOD God I hate that freaking mole...
  24. Ugh, I can't stand Hershey's chocolate. I tried it once and it resulted in a horrible vomit aftertaste in the back of my throat. Apparently, the reason for this is that they use slightly expired milk to make the chocolate. I don't know about other American chocolate but i'm steering clear of Hershey's.
