Iwata has said that the games on Nintendo Revolution's back catalog will not be free. They're experimenting with pricing structures and closely looking at the consumers who use xbox live arcade. I think a shell would be nice to go with Revolution free, though it's kinda unnecesary as we do have £5 GameCube controllers on eBay with 4 ports on top of the Revolution. I'll probably buy one for myself but not 4 for my mates.. that's just over the top. Interesting point about the Sega/Hudson shells.. I'm curious about that too, there are no shoulder buttons for SNES playback on the Revolution FHC when displayed sideways and it must be pretty uncomfortable.

Molyneux predicts controller in 2004
Nintendork replied to Gaijin von Snikbah's topic in Nintendo Gaming
TellyN, they can't afford Will Wright. Trust me on that one! You have a good point there, it's an interesting tactic but I'd rather see Lionhead thrive on Microsoft platforms than a great team get made redundant Cyan Worlds. style. -
Will do well with the students.. my only concern was that it would be dedicated to a mainly Eastern style.. nothing wrong with that, I love Eastern food but it's sometimes difficuilt to get the ingredients from the supermarket. They're also not always authentic to what real asian people can get. I'm a veggie and I know Japanese and Chinese culture is quite into meat and cooking, so I hope there is a veggie edition using tofu and alternatives.

Nintendo are making a shell for GameCube games, they are serious about offering true backwards compatibility. There are some issues with the N64 having a lot of buttons.. and that might lead to complications. I hope we don't see 10 different shells for each platform.. it's great saying turn the Revolution controller sidewas and it's a NES pad- but it looks ridiculously uncomfortable. It's not ideal for all systems.. as pointed out the Mega Drive and PC-engine will be interesting. The FHC is new, it's good but we shouldn't disgregard every other accesory just because of that? Why rellogate an accesory to the realms of third party accesory makes when Nintendo are hoping to offer GameCube backwards compatibility out of the box.

*talks loudly and slowly* Everyone speaks English if you say it right.

It's a grey area.. I'm sure they're aiming for a launch, but we know if it isn't ready it will probably be delayed so they can get it right. I think they'll make it.

I hoped so, but it is unlikely.. because it is not a standard addition.. plus it does not have the size or radar sensor on the front. I think the chances are slim and none.. though it would have some minor benefits I don't think it would outweigh the cost knowing how much money from the systems budget is being devoted to this technology.

lol didn't see that one. O RLY?

I can confirm that I need a link.

Nintendo promo video In the video the controller is presented at first without the nunchuck add on. The system's website also details the controller without the FHC.. most press shots except the systme at GDC have been seen without the nunchuck. Games- - Squash/Tennis: without nunchuck - Cooking: without nunchuck - Orchestra game: without nunchuck - Percussion/Drumming game: without nunchuck - Baseball game: without nunchuck - Fishing game: without nunchuck - Surgery/Dentistry game: without nunchuck - Mario w/classic sound effects: without nunchuck It is only at this point in the video they introduce the nunchuck, exactly at the half way point. - Haunted house/Resident Evil: with nunchuck - Mario party: with nunchuck - Metroid Shooter: with nunchuck - WarioWare pushed!: with nunchuck - Zelda: with nunchuck The video ends with the system being left with a shot with the nunchuck plugged in 'here are the possibilities' I think there's emphasis both ways.. the time allocated in the video was disprersed evenly but obviously less games took advantages of it.

What's everyone think about Marc Ecko's getting up? That's going to use Revolution's free hand controller as a spray can, it'll be a one handed game I assume to give real freedom to express yourself. They've said they're excited about developping for it.

Molyneux predicts controller in 2004

Microsoft has got a bargain whatever they paid. I agree, I would have enjoyed playing a Molyneux game for Revolution, it would have been heaven for him. Except with regard to technical limitations which he has spoke out violently against with some systems. -
Starting to sound like a bunch of fanboys. [/gets flamed/banned]

As long as it has a good amount of vegetarian dishes I will be buying any Revolution cooking game that comes out.

I made this one the other day, pretty much the same- quite solid though you've added sources.

I have said many times that I want a game on launch that doesn't use it.. one where I can just lay down with one arm and relax playing the game. I think the most enjoyable games will just use the standard free hand controller.. I will probably buy more 1 handed games than 2 handed ones. How lethargic.

After the first shots... How do you feel?

It's alright. -
Nintendo Power/Official Nintendo Mag will have this first party titles if at all as no events are scheduled by Nintendo. I'm skeptical, probably be Twilight Princess as that's technically a GameCube game.

Apparently Live didn't make a profit until the first 16 months had passed. considering they were charging that's a bit of a joke. I'm interested how much of a WiFi's game price goes into a lifetime subscription to that game's server. Microsoft does have considerable more experience and software available to manage live, with MSN going strong around the world. -

It makes sense. I am simply admitting I am picky.. I know it's free but I expect it to be easy to play your mates in a less rigid environment than the DS one. Animal Crossing and Metroid aren't so bad.. but to have a unified friend code system, better communications and invitations would just make it a whole lot better. While remaining safe for parents who worry.. Right now Nintendo WiFi only really satisfies those who just want some decent intelligent competition in games. It's not really hitting the boxes for friends who want to play together.. well Animal Crossing and Metroid are coming closer. -

I'd buy it.. I mainly steal off other people and go to hotspots with my DS right now.. but i've only played a couple of matches because Mario Kart was lame. I expect a gamer list like on xbox live which you can view at any time when someone is online, the game they're playing and the ability to send them a notification to play a game.. some kind of tournament system would be rad too. and of course a gamer code for all games not just one passport for each game.. that really blows. I know they're little things.. but that is why xbox live was a success. -

Metroid is apparently a step forward, but it's not what I expect for a home game console. I have high standards considering Nintendo WiFi is free. -

Hahah if it is a clone of the DS WiFi I'd probably not buy the console. [/seriously] -
People think that IGN is gospel, I hardly use it anymore. I think since the blogosphere has been invented these websites have lost their power. Joystiq doesn't even do real reports, they just link to blogs.

Cubed3 is a pretty small site, but if you want to make it into the press industry something like this can be your big break- you'd probably get a job if you had such a referral and that in the portfolio. Real magazines and websites don't care much for degrees these days, they want experience. It's a pricey business but this'd be a good oppurtunity like the newsround press packs, except the BBC pay for that
