I occasionally see some PS2 games on sale (i have seen more triple PS2 titles in Italy). Can we still buy the hardware brand new in the UK?
-
Anyone knows what ever happened to the Tandy game shop in London? it was the shop where i bought my first ever game console in 1993 (SNES:) with my mum and siblings. The memories of entering the store and seeing CDi's, 3D0's, Jaguar 64 etc for £300 and above will never depart from me. I hope it has not closed down or has it merged?

We all knew the Wii effect would not last forever and it is showing this year with the Wii losing money and Nintendo losing money as well. The 3DS will be a success so i won't worry about that. Analysts have said gaming on smartphones and tablets is eating into Nintendo's profits. I don't buy into all that. Unlike the Sony and MS, Nintendo really needs a replacement for the Wii ASAP for this year or the next. It should match or be better than the PS3. They should follow Sony's example and carry on selling the Wii and squeeze every juice they can from the system. If they play their cards right, they should be able to sell the Wii for ten years alongside the new system (it will be a cashcow for them - PS2 is still bee sold today) I think they can turn it around. The answer might not be just hardcore games (they have tried that and sadly failed) but

Hi, does anyone have an address and opening times for the museum? i am planning to head over in August and i have checked online for a website to no avail. Thanks

I agree with you guys in that today consoles are not much expensive as they were 'back in the days'. Shorty you know my first PC cost almost a grand as well...lol how times have changed
-
Maybe so but £600 in 1993 is around £900 or so in today's money which is a lot for a Jaguar 64 Then again 20yrs down the line people will say the PS3 was too expensive

Nintendo will let slip the Wii HD and or Will replacement due for next year

I remember visiting the U.K as a teenage tourist in 1993 and walking into a Tandy game store (i think they are gone know) and seeing all the systems. The only affordable ones were the SNES and Megadrive (i bought the SNES). I saw the 3DO and i think it was for £550 or something and the others i.e. CDI, Jaguare etc where similar or higher. Looking back, people bought these systems. Which brings me to the question, did gamers back then have more money than sense?

I read an article in the Sunday Times tech section about Gaikai. It was obviously written by a journalist with limited game knowledge. I did not google for more info at the time but was suprised to see a Dave Perry listed as founder (Shiny entertainment?) I think this won't last long like the rest of them. http://www.walloftext.info/2009/07/gaikai-vs-onlive-no-smoke-and-mirrors.html

I was wondering why we have never seen an SF game sinse the SNES heydays. I was told Capcom signed a contract/or similar preventing them from developing an SF game for Nintendo. Is this true? Thanks

Let's see what happens on that date. The guy has been "spamming videos" so maybe he is right?

I think the gaming division might not go straight away. 8,000 jobs is not a lot. I would imagine ales and marketing to feel the full force.. If the PS3 and PSP continues to underperform, it is very likely that they will leave the business and focus attention on elsewhere. 2010 is when we will see what happens
-
They are losing money and plan to cut 8,000 jobs and remove some redundant divisions. There is a possiblilty that they might get out of the game business or just get rid of the PSP... It is too early to say at this stage http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/dec/09/sony-job-cuts

Very true. Back then i was fuming at those crazy prices. They tried to get away with daylight robbery but they all went busted in the end
