Phube Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Has it been confirmed for the UK, whether or not we'll get 2000 Wii points if we buy one? Please, I must know!!
Nintendork Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Not confirmed, apparently if you buy it in Japan the first 500,000 people will get this as a thank you. I don't like the look of it or the layout.. I'll probably use a Cube one, seeing as it will be required for f-zero Wii and Smash Bros. Dojo. I'm hoping they'll bring out a WaveBird plus.. with rumble and working on the bluetooth to ensure people have access to GameCube controllers when the Smash Bros. comes out. Otherwise there will be lots of people without the required controller.
Charlie Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Has it even been confirmed if we can use the GC controller as a 'classic' controller yet? We need a source please before you say it has.

I doubt the final version of smash will require a gamecube controller, selling gamecube controllers as well as classic controllers will confuse the comsumer, smash will probably use the classic controller.
Tellyn Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Virtual Console Info I made a little topic telling you all the confirmed info about the Virtual Console. The Virtual Console controller is confirmed for launch at 14 pounds.
Zechs Merquise Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I think the classic controller looks great and is layed out well, it's far more beat-em up friendly than the Gamecube pad and knowing Nintendo it'll have a great feel in the palm of your hand. One thing that no one can criticse Nintendo for is the comfortable controllers.
Kurtle Squad Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 F-Zero wont need a Classic or Cube'troller, I reckon it might use the nunchuck (Miyamoto has already said he knows it can't really just use the Wiimote)
Zell Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I hope they redesign it. It just looks so unconfortably retro, they should have just used a neater redesign of the existing gamecube controller. That way we will be able play gcn games using it (as well as n64, snes etc). My existing gamecube controllers are dying.

Nintendork Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Miyamoto actually said that he thinks F-Zero would be better suited to the Classic Controller. Yeah, if it's going to be Wiimote exclusive I just won't buy it (and be mad) they have to admit that it is flawed for certain games.. even with the steering wheel it'd be shit. It's a very sensitive high speed racer.. Anyway.. I think they're gonna have to do something about Smash Bros. the classic controller doesn't suit the game (simplicity) The director said keep your Cube controllers.. so either they're going to support the Cube and classic controller, or just keep Cube controllers in production. I think there is a high probability they might bundle a Cube controller with it.. or offer an updated Cube controller with bluetooth. I won't play it on the classic controller actually.. they could easily rebrand the controller as a "Smash Bros." controller. The game needs rumble, it needs simplicity and if it's going to be a natural progression from Melee they need to keep it the same for all players to be on an even playing field.

Yeah I was just going to say that they could rename the GC controller the Smash Controller (or Smash Sensei, something like that) and keep it in production. OR! They could update the GameCube controller and make it so that originals are still compatible, but make a Wavebird2 that hooks up to the Wiimote so it can use rumble.
Kurtle Squad Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Miyamoto actually said that he thinks F-Zero would be better suited to the Classic Controller. But that means people would have to buy the Classic Controller. Nintendo should really make the Classic controller & nunchuk £5 (even if they're making a loss); it's unfair on people that want to get the most out of Wii games and the VC.
Alan77 Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Why would you need to use the Cube controller? it's the same as the classic controller. I bet you'll need the classic just so Nintendo can sell more of them.
Din Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I still think the classic controller should have been bundled with the Wii console.

Zechs Merquise Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 This is absurd. When have Nintendo ever made abad controller? Lets all feel it in our hands before we comment. Anyway, it can't be worse than dual shock...

Anyway, it can't be worse than dual shock... Yeah...that is a good point, but I think it's just a worry that the Classic Controller wont be as good to play Smash Bros. on as the Cube one (If the Classic is used).

But they're exactly the same bar the grip-part-which-I've-forgotten-the-name-of.
soag Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I wont be using the Virtual console anyway. just like you never use your brain. I think the classic controller looks ace, and really easy to use, VC here i come
Kurtle Squad Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 But they're exactly the same bar the grip-part-which-I've-forgotten-the-name-of. Erm...No...the Sticks are DuelShock positioned.
Zechs Merquise Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 The differences are the face buttons, they're just regular 'SNES' style now and not the kidney shaped ones on the Gamecube controller, also the 'c-stick' is now just a fullt fledged analogue stick. I think the controller looks great, and will be better for beat-em ups.
