Emasher Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 i preordered my wii today from zellers and guess what to pre-order a wii there you need to buy exite truck and rayman (wii). it worked out in the end though because my mom said she would pay for them as an early chrismas present. so in the end all i had to pay today was 100 cnd (my sister payed for half and my mom owed me lots of alowance). i still need to pay another 100 cnd for an eaxtra wii-mote and tp. no tp preorders at zellers. at least it wasn't as bad as the scam in a recent gamer pals comic. so has anyone else been scamed.
Patch Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 i preordered my wii today from zellers and guess what to pre-order a wii there you need to buy exite truck and rayman (wii). [/b] I know I'm not answering your question here (sorry about that), but there must be something you can do. Cancel? Write a strongly worded email? Bomb their offices?* *I'm kidding. No, really I am.
Emasher Posted October 21, 2006 Author Posted October 21, 2006 what do you mean i already preordered it.
Nintendork Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Erm, that's not as bad as some places.. it's far from a scam. For a Premium 360 you had to buy 5 full price shitty ass launch games. Most people bought a core pack, wireless controller and hard-drive seperately because of it. I guess you should have read any terms and conditions.
Emasher Posted October 21, 2006 Author Posted October 21, 2006 i did i knew in advance. i just thought it was annoying because its the only place i will have time to get to after church for noon that is exepting preorders and not sold out. no i knew there were to before i left my house. (phone + flyers = knowledge) i knew one was rayman and the other wasn't zelda rayman and exite truck + zelda + wii sports = 4 games. that will last a year since one is over 50 hours.
Charlie Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 That's not a scam, you can preorder it somewhere else if you want to.
Emasher Posted October 21, 2006 Author Posted October 21, 2006 not in my city every where is sold out and at eb when they know for sure how many there getting there will be line ups at one in the morning to get preorders for them. or i can camp out at future shop who arn't doing preorders. i'll use the word sceem, its more friendly
ShadowV7 Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Is there not a place you can pre-order online and Toys 'R' Us are doing pre-orders on the 29th in America so they might do it in Canada,so if there's one near you then you can try there but i'd imagine there would be people that would arrive there at about 1am or something
Emasher Posted October 21, 2006 Author Posted October 21, 2006 the toys r us in my city is on the other side 45 min to 1h drive. (probably sold out) my parents will only let me buy stuff of amazon on the net. (sold out)
ShadowV7 Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Are they not doing another round? Hope you find a place,be a shame if you didn't.
Zechs Merquise Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I've never encountered this in Europe, I had both my Cube and my N64 ordered and was under no pressure to buy with any particular games. I got my Cube with Wave Race and Rouge Leader, and My N64 with Mario!
BlueStar Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Is there really any point pre-ordering? I was just going to do what I did with the DS and wander into town at about 10am on launch day, stroll into Game, Gamestation or one of the independents and pick one up.
Cube Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I've never encountered this in Europe, I had both my Cube and my N64 ordered and was under no pressure to buy with any particular games. I got my Cube with Wave Race and Rouge Leader, and My N64 with Mario! When I got my N64, I had to have one of 2 games with it. There was no option for having it with just one other game. Ok...so the games were Mario and GoldenEye...and were inside the N64 box.

Strange Cookie Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 i preordered my wii today from zellers and guess what to pre-order a wii there you need to buy exite truck and rayman (wii). I haven't encountered any kind of scam like this in Belgium yet, even though the problem certainly isn't new. It's a real shame stores are trying to get a big buck fast and easily. Then again, it are stores, but it doens't seem very customer-oriëntated to decide which games people are going to buy with their brand new console. Blasted economics! Is there really any point pre-ordering? Depends really. With the DS and PSP, I didn't preorder and got one on launchday. But I did preorder my Dreamcast and Xbox360, and if I hadn't, it's unlikely I would have gotten one on day 1. I preordered my Gamecube too, but there were enough to go around, so it didn't really matter. I think Nintendo will have enough units available for this launch, but if you want to be really sure, I suggest you preorder. I know some stores who split their allocated stocks in "preorders" and "non-preorders", so you can always buy a console without preordering as long as the stock lasts. Looking back at the 360-launch, they didn't even have a "non-preorder"-stock. If you didn't preorder, you had to wait, sometimes until the second wave in february in you were unlucky. If you want a Wii on day 1 and you can find a store where you can really order what you want or would be lucky enough to find a store with a package that suits you, there is no harm in preordering. exite truck and rayman Well, at least they chose games which are looking rather good (even though Excite Truck probably isn't a launch game)! They could have forced you to preorder Rampage and Barnyard instead! Now that'd be one sour deal!
BlueStar Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Might just get a mate of mine who works in a games shop to keep me one under the counter
Owen Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Getting Excitetruck on launch-day is by far, not a scam! I SO WANT THAT GAME!
ShadowV7 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 To bad it's not a laucn game for us by the looks of things.
Emasher Posted October 22, 2006 Author Posted October 22, 2006 well at least now you can expect reviews on the following. Zelda Rayman Exite Truck Wii Sports Wii Console Opera Browser Wii from a real gamer
