21st century cowboy Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 There was a low-key Nintendo conference over in Japan and now we can bring you all the details straight from the event, courtesy of neo2046 and Jonnyram from NeoGAF and summarised by Amir0x. First of all, Shigeru Miyamoto has unveiled something called a 'Health Pack' (working title) for Nintendo's Wii, which is related to Family Health Check; Following the half-million selling Cooking Navi for DS, a new edition will be made available. Called "DS Menu Collection" it will have 1,000 in-built recipes and comes with a magnetic stand that attaches to your fridge, so you do not have to leave your vulnerable DS by the cooker (it will cost an extra 1,200Yen). It is also Wi-Fi compatible! More videos have been released, which can be seen here: Wii-Experience; As of next Spring (2007), Nintendo will apparently do away with discs and manuals for some games as part of the "Wii Compact Software" line, meaning you can simply download the titles; From launch until the end of 2006, Japan will see 18 Wii games launched; Nintendo will be following the successful strategy taken with the DS for the Wii's life; Big Brain Academy on Wii will not be released until Spring 2007; Including titles from the MegaDrive and PC Engine, there will be about 60 Virtual Console games launched in Japan before the end of 2006; Japan will see The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on Gamecube released ONLY online. Wii Points Prepaid Card Details 1,000Yen = 1,000 Wii points 3,000Yen = 3,000 Wii points 5,000Yen = 5,000 Wii points + classic Controller Other Pricing Details Power brick = 3,000Yen Composite cable = 1,000Yen S-Video = 2,500Yen D terminal = 2,500Yen Component cable = 2,500Yen 512MB SD Card = 3,800Yen Wired LAN Adapter = 2,800Yen More accessory details can be seen here: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/accessories/index.html from cubed - http://www.cubed3.com/news/6113/1/All_the_Wii%20and%20DS_Details_from_Japan
raven_blade2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 1000 Yen = £4.50 Just wait until Euro Tax finds it.
Sméagol Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I like the Nintendo branded SD card. I like the 5000 point card with the retro controller. I don't get why and how Japan is getting Twilight Princess only online? How the hell will you play it on your GameCube? I guess this is for hardcore Zelda fans and Wii owners who simply prefer the Cube version or want them both. Well, as long we get it on discs over here.

You will only be able to BUY it online, this is something that Nintendo have been doing with some products already; there is simply no facility to download a game to the Gamecube, from an online connection.

Ah ok, that makes sense. I made an assumption they meant a VC download or something, it was right after the VC games comment after all . I guess that's better. Now I really don't see them releasing it online-only (on VC) in the US, but certainly not the EU, but a limited release where you can only buy it online (or in the case of EU, by calling customers support <sigh>) is definately possible. Well, if I can get one (on disc) either way, I'll be happy..
Colin Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 No VGA cable................tossers. Best be a third-party solution.
Hellfire Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 No VGA sucks but at least there's an S-VIdeo cable I hope at launch, or else I'll have to import from Japan.
Rick Dangerous Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 No VGA cable................tossers. Best be a third-party solution. Thats cause they dont use scart in japan. Edit:Sorry being thick, did you mean VGA as in monitor connection, surely you would want DVI though as its much better?

Yep, VGA is known as a PC monitor connection in most circles, or nowadays HD-15 which in spec sheets it's listed as. With the DVI thing, I'm not sure you would actually notice any difference between that and VGA cable with the Wii. The 360 VGA cable uses a HD-15 interface I believe and not DVI. Still I'm well annoyed. As I've got no TV at Uni, and that's where I'm spending most of my time. But because the Wii can output via component, then a VGA cable is entirely possible. Some third-party has got to make one, it's just I would rather have confirmation now or before release.
Patch Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 First of all, Shigeru Miyamoto has unveiled something called a 'Health Pack' (working title) for Nintendo's Wii, which is related to Family Health Check Haven't heard of either. Anyone care to elaborate?
DCK Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 As for Nintendo conversion rates, it's probably 1000 yen = $10 = €10 = £7. That means the prices are pretty high (again) but hey, the 5000 points + VC controller deal is good.

Isnt that the best cable you can get for it? arent they like £30 for Cube somewhere? Is this the best cable for it? if so ill be getting one of those. 5000 points and classic controller sounds muy muy good.

Did any third parties make a cable like this for the cube? I only ever saw VGA boxes.
