Do you interpret lyrics?

We were talking about this in Sociology today. Talking about social class we came across the lyric "Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got

I'm still, I'm still Jenny from the block"

Meaning, dont be fooled with my diamonds, I'm still from a ghetto.

Really? I interpreted it as "I'm a bitch, ram a sitck up my ass."

i like listening to the lyrics inthe songs i like. Most of the Hot Hot Heat lyrics are pretty cool, and i go on t'internet and have a look a lyrics for most songs. Just to sing along most of the time, but also its funny what they say in some songs.

In one hellogoodbye song, it sounded like hey just mumbled some words, but then looking on the internet and trying to work out, it actually made sense.

I don't think it's a case of music over lyrics or lyrics over music, it's just that lyrics can add so much to a song and if they're good enough stand up on their own.

and again some more lyrics from me:

How many roads must a man walk down

Before you call him a man?

Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail

Before she sleeps in the sand?

Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly

Before they're forever banned?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,

The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many times must a man look up

Before he can see the sky?

Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have

Before he can hear people cry?

Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows

That too many people have died?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,

The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist

Before it's washed to the sea?

Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist

Before they're allowed to be free?

Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,

Pretending he just doesn't see?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,

The answer is blowin' in the wind.

simple and effective

Simon and Garfunkle. Now there's a pair who could bust out a fantastic piece of musical and poetic genius just by going for a dump.

yes i was going to say that.Fantastic music and words. The boxer for instance and bridge over troubled water.

I actually cannot write lyrics to save my life. But i pride myself in my music

Ugh, damn song reminds me of Junior School. Sang it as a hymn.

I struggle quite a bit when it comes to writing lyrics. But I can pick up a guitar and create a nice little riff after about a minute.
