I brought a freeview box wanting to watch Marx Brothers and Dot Cotten but all I get is some sick. WE CANT FIND ANY SIGNALS horrific crap. Is it ebcause im using a mobile ariel? It is a pile of ubbish it barely tracks a signal do I need a new ariel or to plug it into the main ariel tv? The latter isnt really an option :/

Did you go to the freeview website and put your postcode in to make sure you area can get freeview ?

If you did and the answer is yes you can get freeview in your area... then yeah you might need a stonger aerial depending on if your house is like down in a dip of hill or lots of tree's around etc.

I have freeview in one room which no one watches but it runs fine on a cheap £15 aerial from argos.

I can get it in my area. But the ariel I use is ltierally a pile of shit although I can get tv at uni but not here. I will go to an ariel shop I know and ask the nice man to help me. For the mo thanks to that legendthat is Fierce Link I ahve got it working in the main room. The thing is my mum wont thank me she will look at these new channels as some invasion from outsiders onto our pure 5 channel tv. I mean our tv is so old I couldnt plug the scart socket into the tv it doesnt have a socket its older than me!

It'll be much better when hooked up to the house aerial but even then it may not be much cop and you may have to upgrade your house aerial. It all depends on the signal strength in your area. (I had to climb on my roof and point the aerial in a new direction.)

If you get an aerial that is okay but not great, you can do what I did and buy a cheap signal booster from Argos - it made a world of difference.

it also depends on the box, i've ran through about 6 freeview boxes since they came out as itv digital or something. And its not necessarily te cheapest, just some of them are poor at recieving signals, some won't display channels unless they get a certain amount of signal strength which may be your case using a mobile ariel which is fine really because if it did get the signals it would probably be too poor to watch so i would suggest getting a booster or somesuch.

i can only get a select few channels when i search for channels on my tv, i think my ariel is crap, but unless i can find a cheap alternative, the nill have to stick with the 8 or so tv channels and the 10 radio stations.
