arab_freak Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Is that "feature" still there? I haven't heard about it in a long time. We all know that Nintendo told us it would be capable of connecting to a PC monitor, but now that we've seen the console and the controller, how is it going to do that? Look at the back of the Wii: Where am I supposed to plug in my monitor? And what about the sensor bar? How does it attach itself to the monitor/TV? Does it have a "sticker" that I remove, then stick it where I want? Or is it magnetic?
James McGeachie Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 It seems the feature is no longer in, the time it was "confirmed" was when the console was still being refered to as the N5, the guy who confirmed it wasn't really a well known employee or anything either, it's very possible it was "planned" back then but when Nintendo decided to go in the direction they are it was scrapped.
Zombie_Fan Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I think Nintendo will make a vga cable like Microsoft did for the 360. On the 360 the cable plugs into where the video audio cable plugs into.
BGS Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 And what about the sensor bar? How does it attach itself to the monitor/TV? Does it have a "sticker" that I remove, then stick it where I want? Or is it magnetic? Not sure but I'm guessing it'll be a sticker. It definitely -won't- be magnetic. Have you ever tried sticking a magnet near a tv screen or monitor? Advice: don't.

Or is it magnetic? Just never get a magnet close to any TV, or you'll really regret it. The sensor bar just "sits there". Maybe nintendo will include an adhesive sticker, but the sensor bar does not need to be right next to the TV. You can just put it on the floor, above your TV, on your furniture or wherever you see fit (as long as it's relatively close to the TV), without having to stick it anywere.
Fresh Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I dont give a rats ass about this thread but i will post on it on to question why it says "trade show smple" not "trade show sample", Good job nintendo.
nicolasmasset Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Didn't Iwata himself say that about the pc monitor connection instead of the employee? My mind is letting me down, it's been 4 days without brain training...
arab_freak Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 Just never get a magnet close to any TV, or you'll really regret it. Lol, me stepdad once put one of those "super" magnets (they come in pairs, you throw them upwards and they make weird noises as they attract one another), and the TV had some weird colors for about a week and it was back to normal. I think Nintendo will make a vga cable like Microsoft did for the 360. On the 360 the cable plugs into where the video audio cable plugs into. See, that picture looks confusing to me. I plug my PC monitor INTO my graphics card. That picture makes it look nothing like what I'm doing. I was expecting Nintendo to put a PC monitor port at the back of the console or something, but I was wrong. So, if Nintendo did release something like that in the future, how would it work?

Newer monitors (LCDs) along with HD TVs have the ports on them. I assume your using an older CRT (like me ) I'm sure there will be a gender changer available for us.
Zombie_Fan Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Here are some pics of my 360 hooked up to my brother's monitor. The hook up is very easy. It gives me a 720p picture.
Colin Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I know it's a bit OT, but does anyone know where I can get a cable like that 360 one above for a PS2 at all?
Jack Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 I know it's a bit OT, but does anyone know where I can get a cable like that 360 one above for a PS2 at all? The PS2 wasn't designed to natively output VGA for games (It can for the Linux kit though), so there won't be any cables like the 360's VGA cable. You can always use an X-RGB2+ and an RGB cable to do the job. Incidentally, I'd like to sell mine, if anyone's interested. :P

I am interested, but aren't they quite expensive in the first place anyway. And I haven't exactly got that much disposable income. What sort of amount are you looking for? Edit - Don't worry, I've looked into Hauppauge WINTV cards, and they do the job.
