Hero-of-Time Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Quote Digital Eclipse and Team17 Digital announce Worms Armageddon – Anniversary Edition On the 25th anniversary of the best selling 1999 game, a special version is releasing on current gen consoles and adding lots of bonus content Thurs 27th Aug 2024 – Team17 Digital and Digital Eclipse, have a very special announcement for fans of one of the most recognisable and beloved games of all time - Worms. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Worms Armageddon and the creators of the game wanted to bring the Armageddon experience to a new generation of players as well as evoke the fond memories of those that played the game when it first came out. This Anniversary edition will be released on September 26th and will now allow console players a chance to get stuck into the artillery insanity of worms, for the first time. The developers have poured a lot of love into the enhancements, with many quality-of-life improvements and a completely redesigned UI across all platform versions. Additional Features: • Optimized controller support for all consoles. • Achievements and Trophies • New display features such as modern aspect ratios, custom screen filters, enhanced HD and graphics options. • Fully playable Game Boy Color version of Worms Armageddon • An interactive museum that charts the history of the entire series. Featuring never-before-seen interviews with developers of the original and current games. • New save system Worms Armageddon will feature online support, allowing up to six players to team-up or compete. Online is cross-generation so PS4 and PS5 owners will be able to play against each other, as well Xbox One and Xbox Series owners. I've fond memories of this one. Many hours were spent with my mates in local multiplayer on both this and the orginal Worms.
Cube Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Even though the PC version has a ton of extra features, I always preferred the N64 version just because passing a controller around is far more suited for pass n play multiplayer (even with all the updates the original got over the years, good controller support was never added to it). So this is a very welcome release. 1 1
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I hope they do a demo for this, because I can't imagine playing this not on a keyboard, I'd love to try it out.
martinist Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I had the PS1 version myself. It was really fun actually. Looking forward to this, should be a good Switch game. I'd feel awkward playing it on anything else.

I've always been a big fan of PC keyboard and mouse for these games - in fact some of the first ever online gaming I did was on Worms 2 with people from this forum and a 56k modem! That said, they've always been perfectly fine with controllers too. You just have to learn to navigate the weapons menus very quickly so as not to waste precious time! 1
