Julius Posted Monday at 02:55 PM Posted Monday at 02:55 PM Digital Foundry have released a special based on hands-on impressions from the Switch 2 Experience: Quote Fresh from visiting the Nintendo Switch 2 showcase event in London on April 11th, Tom and Rich sat down with Oliver to discuss their hands-on experience with the hardware, sharing details on the ergonomics, the screen, the controllers and much more - and then it's on to the games, including the big Nintendo heavy hitters, Street Fighter 6, Hogwarts Legacy, the GameCube emulator and much, much more. Excited to dig into this later! 33 minutes ago, Hero-of-Time said: I would love to see the gifting option make a return from the Wii days. It was such a great feature and I'm baffled why modern consoles don't allow for it. Absolutely. I'm not much of a PC guy (closest I really get is the Steam Deck), so I use it much less than the PS Store and Nintendo eShop, but the Steam store runs circles around the current console storefronts, despite there not really being anything to it that couldn't be done on these storefronts. I much prefer gifting my younger brother a game on Steam for his birthday (if there's nothing else he wants) than giving a gift card/sending funds to do so on Switch. Just seems like they've all phoned it in with the bare minimum on that front for a while now – but with how they've talked about wanting to make changes to it, the Switch 2 eShop is easily one of my most anticipated features of the Switch 2.

This is the first time we've ever had a new console launch without a 1st party game without some sort of significant single player mode available on Day 1. DK Bananza would be it, but that's not coming out until the month after launch day. Luigi's Mansion 4 would be it, but that's not coming out until... 1 hour ago, Hero-of-Time said: I would love to see the gifting option make a return from the Wii days. Hero-of-Time Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Quote "This is Furukawa. On April 2, we announced the details of "Nintendo Switch 2" and started the lottery for the sales on the My Nintendo Store. As a result, we received applications from an extremely large number of people, approximately 2.2 million in Japan alone. However, this is far more than we had expected in advance, and the number of "Nintendo Switch 2" units that My Nintendo Store will be able to deliver on June 5 has been greatly exceeded. We regret to inform you that a significant number of our customers will not be able to be chosen when we announce the winners tomorrow, April 24th. In order to avoid the hassle of re-entering the lottery for those who did not win in the first lottery, the My Nintendo Store will automatically carry over those who did not win in the first lottery to the second lottery. However, we will not be able to respond to all applications, including those for the second lottery. We deeply apologize for not being able to meet your expectations despite our advance preparations. We are currently working to meet this demand by further strengthening our production system. As for product shipments, from tomorrow, April 24th, game retailers and online stores nationwide will begin accepting reservations or lottery sales of the "Nintendo Switch 2" console sequentially (please check each retailer's information for details). My Nintendo Store will also continue to sell the console after the release date (details will be announced at a later date). With the cooperation of our retailers, we will continue to ship the Nintendo Switch 2 so that as many "Nintendo Switch 2" products as possible will be available to everyone. We are planning to produce and ship a considerable number of "Nintendo Switch 2" in the future. We apologize that it will take us some time to meet your expectations, and we appreciate your understanding." Records are about to be destroyed. For context, someone on Era posted this. Quote This is just ONE retailer in the entire country. The highest selling console debut in Japan is the PS2 with 630k. Switch 1 sold 330k units on its first week. 1
Ashley Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago No wonder, they're getting the cheaper Japanese language only model.
