Happenstance Posted October 7 Posted October 7 I tried the pc demo again earlier. They've managed to sort out the FPS issues by forcing it into windowed mode, even when you choose other options. Not a great fix but it does let me play it at some point. Honestly though the shit job they did with the pc version has soured me on the game so I'll probably just wait until it gets a very big discount before I buy it.

Got a few weeks booked off from work over the festive period and so it will give me time to dig into it. Yeah, this is my plan too. There are probably other JRPGs cosier for me to catch up on over Christmas, but it's easily the most free time I'm going to have, so makes sense to dedicate it to the longest game in the backlog of this year's releases 21 minutes ago, Hero-of-Time said: That's providing I've got through the other JRPGs sat in my backlog. This year has been insane for releases. Yep, definitely, and 2025 looks to just pick up where this year is going to leave off. Say what we might about first parties outside of Nintendo right now, third parties are seriously carrying a lot of the momentum of this gen at the moment – and I'm loving it which JRPGs are sitting in the backlog at the moment H-o-T? I've written out a rough outline of what I think I can realistically get to between now and the end of the year to "catch up", already been some hard cuts, but it provides a bit of peace of mind just already saying "no" to a couple of them – I'll either get back to them next year or whenever the mood strikes. Three massive JRPGs I'll be catching up on are included in that (those three include Metaphor), and of course my pledge games are on the list of priorities too, but as the temperature's cooled off I'm already playing games a lot more and having a blast doing so again. Think I've finally figured out over the last few months that I'm a bit of a seasonal player in terms of hours I invest, which is great to know and plan going into next year, but not so helpful when it comes to wrapping this one up Edited October 7 by Julius

I've got MH Stories 2, Digimon Survive (more of a VN, really), Granblue Fantasy, Unicorn Overlord, Trails of Zero, Final Fantasy Pixel Collection and Tokyo Mirage Sessions. Not too fussed about MH Stories 2 as I only finished the first a couple of months back. There's really only November and start of December left to play these before the end of the year because October is my spooky game month. Yeah... Edited October 7 by Hero-of-Time 1

And for every 1000 A-EXP you get an item that grants that amount to an Archetype of your choosing. Which means: I will grind out a few of those items before full release. Nah, I won't After 24 hours, I think I'm done with the demo. Got all currently available Archetypes maxed out, got lots of money, lots of items, lots of fun. I won't touch the demo until the full game is released and then I'll leave the dungeon, deal with items/equipment/etc. and truly begin what seems to be great JRPG adventure. Can't wait. Haven't been this excited for a release since Astro Bot
Julius Posted October 9 Author Posted October 9 Launch trailer: Sponsors Haas at the F1 in Singapore and then a Radiohead cover in the launch trailer – look, you really can't say they haven't tried to push the boundaries with their marketing
drahkon Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Today is so slow I will be at my local store 10am sharp. I will open the store myself, if I have to. 1
drahkon Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Alright, I'm going in Time to actually finish what's in the demo first, though, hehehe 1
drahkon Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Okay...after 25 hours with the demo I might be a tad too strong 1
Julius Posted October 11 Author Posted October 11 Game is off to a very strong start, over 1 million units moved: Quote Over 1 million copies sold! The total number of copies sold worldwide for Metaphor ReFantazio, released today, has exceeded 1 million! We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported us. Considering it's launch day I'm assuming this is download and shipped numbers, but I'm fully expecting a concrete "X million sold!" by the end of the week. Persona 3 Reload was the first Atlus game to sell 1 million copies in its first week at the start of the year (owing to it being their first big simultaneous worldwide release), but yeah, fully expecting Metaphor to smash those numbers. What a year Atlus has had by the way: Persona 3 Reload, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, and Metaphor ReFantazio. An official announcement next year of Persona 6 would be a great way to carry that hype and momentum forward, I'm just saying... 1

drahkon Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Phew, lots of exposition, that's for sure. While I have reached the point of "you can spend your free time how you like", there are still a lot of days with activities set in stone. But I feel things are going to change soon. Anyways, reaching the 30h mark and this is everything I wanted/expected it to be. Great tone, gloomy atmosphere, interesting characters, lively world, lots of intriguing set-ups and lore...I think this will be an all-time great! 1
drahkon Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Love that in dungeons there appear to be regular enemies that can wreck your life amongst all the other trash mobs. They usually also give decent exp so it's always a great way to farm. And yes, I have been farming a lot again and will keep doing so for a while
drahkon Posted October 23 Posted October 23 (edited) Almost 60 hours in, farmed way too much and should probably just increase the difficulty Currently at what people say is the third story dungeon and depending on how quickly I dispatch of its boss, I will up the ante and go with Hard difficulty. Absolutely loving the game. I have a theory about the world, which is kinda obvious from the name and kinda shoved into your face right from the beginning...looking forward to seeing whether I'm right or if it's going to be a "haha, this was way too obvious, you fool"-situation. Hero-of-Time Posted November 18 Posted November 18 @Julius Smyths are currently selling the game for £34.99. Very tempting... 1
drahkon Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Looks like the end of 2024 will be similar to its start: Barely any games finished. I stopped playing this because it's a little too bleak for my current mood (which is surprisingly good). It's a great game and I'm looking forward to finish it eventually, but it's on hold indefinitely. 1 hour ago, Hero-of-Time said: Smyths are currently selling the game for £34.99. I'm about 70% done with the story, so unless the end shits the bed, the game is definitely worth it at that price! 1
Shorty Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Anyone else struggled to get into this? Like it was entirely up my street, Persona in a new world. I dipped right into the demo and maxed it out. But as soon as I reached the second "open world" segment in the full game... I felt like i was just in step 2/x of a predictable loop and I just couldn't bring myself to contiue. Someone tell me it's not that predictable, I want a reason to give it another shot.

Thanks for the heads-up H-o-T – ended up all Atlus'd out after I got halfway through Persona 3 Reload so I'm going to be giving this a pass for the time being I think enjoyed what I played of P3R, but it just felt so much like going through the motions in a way which wasn't as good as Persona 5. Have a feeling Metaphor might not have felt the same way but would probably grate on me after a while with how P3R played out. Think I'm probably just going to be a bit pickier with the games I pick up/play for a while, ended up with a bit of burnout (gaming and otherwise) these last 5 or 6 weeks Edited December 2 by Julius 1
