Indiana Jones and The Great Circle (9th December 2024 on Xbox Series X|S & PC; Spring 2025 on PS5)

Well, I rolled back my save file, unfortunately it didn't solve the problem. However, I did figure out that you can force Indy to equip the camera (despite the glitch) by picking up another item (a weapon or a torch etc.) and then using the d-pad shortcut. So yeah, I was able to progress a bit more on my original save, but not for long. :heh: Eventually I encountered a dead end where you had to use the whip to escape, and seeing as there's no shortcut for that particular item I was screwed again. :shakehead

In the end I decided to restart the game on a new save, lowered the difficulty to easy and just blasted through the opening section. :hehe: Managed to get back to the point where I was trapped (originally around 3 hours of gameplay) in like 30 minutes though, so not too bad. And with the whip at my disposal once more, the adventure could continue! :)

I'd like to say that I haven't encountered any more bugs since, but I'm afraid that's simply not the case. Although nothing else game breaking (like the item glitch) one of the issues I've had to deal with was so bloody stupid it actually gave me a good laugh...

Spoiler

Basically, there's a section where you need assistance from the NPC that's with Indy, but she decided to not follow along. Meaning I had to go back and push her towards the correct spot (while trying to avoid falling into a bottomless pit) in order to force the event to trigger. It was by far the most difficult "gameplay sequence" of the game so far, as she'd keep getting stuck on walls or constantly trying to turn around and walk back! :D

It is a huge shame about all of these issues with the game, as it's otherwise been great. The exploration gameplay is really good, the presentation is nuts, both in terms of visuals and audio (the voice actor does a seriously amazing job of mimicking Harrison Ford ) and the cutscenes have been super entertaining so far.
I wasn't exactly thrilled when it was revealed there would be over 4 hours of cutscenes in the game, but now I'm kind of disappointed that it's only 4.
Also, I can't stop whistling the theme tune at the moment.

Physical copies have gone up for pre-order in Spain for the PS5 release (standard, premium). No word yet, remember, on whether this is getting a physical PS5 release, either.

Tom Warren is reiterating that this will also be launching in April on PS5 alongside Forza Horizon 5, though obviously we're still waiting for any confirmation of this – currently it's still listed as a "Spring 2025" release.

Between those and DOOM: The Dark Ages in May...remember what I've always said about Xbox and curation? Need I say more? :p

April 15th/17th for Indy on PS5.

April 25th/29th for Forza on PS5.

May 13th/15th for Doom on all platforms.

That sounds to me like a classic case of poor Xbox Game Studios release schedule curation.

Never change, Xbox, never change.

Happy it's getting a physical release, at least. Got to imagine it's a case of MachineGames pushing for it, especially seeing as it's releasing relatively soon after the (poorly timed – shocking, I know) Xbox/PC release back in December.
