Anyone been enjoying the latest season?

I've found most of them enjoyable, exception being Hotel Reverie, which was just boring. and Eulogy, which wore out its concept very early on and seemed then to rely on tugging on the heartstrings, with little payoff at the end.

Most seemed a bit meh to me. They are nothing like the earlier ones. Most just seem to now be "some kind of virtual reality universe" episode. I'd say four of the six had some kind of device or computer that put you in a virtual reality setting. It just seems to be a go to and they just get samey.

Eulogy was OK at being the best one that could have been based in reality. Just take away the going into the photos with the VR doohickey and well photos, sounds, smells do bring back memories for people.

I don't mind the USS Callister one, it at least followed on from before and gave some backstory too. But again VR type stuff again.

Common people was just a dig at all the streaming sites,

Spoiler

I'm suprised Netflix were OK with it being on their site lol. But it was a decent episode that I guess you could see in some way being real. I mean we are mostly there with ads popping up on everything we see and touch so why not add them to people themselves. I know there have been people that have had electronics implanted in them to a very small degree. I'm sure I read once of things like NFC type stuff for opening doors or as key cards. So I could see the next step being similar to the episode.

They were OK but again, there are some of the earlier ones that are much better.

Eulogy reminded me of the photo episode from Red Dwarf, but shit.

One thing from Common People I wondered...

Spoiler

It could be said that O'Dowd may be charged with murder for smothering his wife, but if they weren't able to afford the subscriptions, would they just switch off the streaming service to her head, killing her? Or d'ya they'd argue they would be making her effectively brain-dead again, so not dead dead

But as ye said, which is something I've been going on about for a few seasons now which people are starting to pick up on, it's people sticking a small thing to their temple > ??? > Profit

Wasn't all that impressed with this season. I feel like originally there were great ideas with real dystopian storylines that you could actually see a world in which they might happen. Now I either don't see them as being remotely possible or just completely ridiculous storylines. I think it's something similar to the uncanny vally, if the stories are somewhat restricted and you feel like it might just be possible then they can be quite uncomfortable to watch. If someone has a computer that changes reality based on voice commands you just don't care.

I think Common People and Hotel Reverie were the best of a bad bunch, but neither of them were particularly great.
