Sorry if they're stupid questions but i don't know about this stuff...

1) Do you have to buy a certain type of earphones to use with a mobile, or would my earphones that i use for my MP3 player and laptop be compatible with it?

2) If a smartphone can't locate your current location on google maps, is that a prob with the phone, or a prob with google maps? Mine just says it can't find my current location, no explanation or anything. Just no idea if i can do anything about it?

1. For listening to music, any kind of headphone (well, with a standard 3.5mm jack) will work. If you want to talk on it, you'll need one with a mic.

2. It's hard to say. What phone is it and have you checked your GPS settings?

Is it in just one location, or have you tried it with different locations?

It's a god awful dirt cheap smartphone i got from China on ebay. I only got it FOR help with directions cos i'm always getting lost. I know it was dirt cheap but i still expected it to perform basic functions you know?

I'll check all the settings once it's charged (which takes forever).

And it just says it in any location, it can never locate me anywhere.

Buy cheap, pay twice.

I'm seriously hoping this not to be the case - literally everything I've bought recently has had the main criteria of 'is it cheap? yes? ok!' - includes a rather fetching pink clothes line(it was cheap). Then everyone tells me the buy cheap thing!

As for the actual thread at hand - when I need to get my maps stuff working I turn on wireless, mobile data and GPS. My maps used to say wireless helped(think from google scalping networks with streetview/whatevs) - I'd say try turning them all on and see whether it can find you then?

Ofc a brand and model number for the phone might be further help, if you have/know it.

Thanks guys, turns out i was just being a dumbshit and didn't have the GPS setting on.

It's been charging for 5 days though and the battery is only on like 5%... what the fuck?? I've hardly even used it so not like it's an old battery!
