Demuwan Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I think Nintendo are Ingenious by not realeasing the Shell and actually making developers think outside of the box. The shell should only be used as a last resort for ports. However I do believe that Nintendo need KILLER first party support. So that ideas can be ignited in the minds of developers. If this is going to work Innovation must be pushed by nintendo. Wot ideas do u have I particularly would really enjoy a KILLER tennis game. Moving the player with the analogue stick and the raquet with the pointer. That would OWN
GoonFace Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I think the classic controller should be included with the revolution. What if there is a game that has been ported over to the revolution which you really badly want to get? Just say the game was not designed with the revolution in mind. Who would be prepared to pay £40/50 for the game and the £15-25 for the classic controller shell? I know I wouldn't be. You are potentially paying £75 for a game.
Guest Stefkov Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 yeah a tennis game would own, or a badminton game or a table tennis game. they would be so cool. in the table tennis you could actually move the controller in a way you would a table tennis racket and the ball would spin.
Twilight Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I think Nintendo should guve free shell add-on with every Revolution because it needs as much supports as possible. Launch line-up would also look better with few straight ports. And remeber that the pointer's motion sensory functionality remains active even with the shell.
YenRug Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I think, out of the box, you should get the wand, the analogue nunchuk and the standard controller shell. When it comes to buying extra controllers it should be the wand and analogue as one package and the shell as a separate item, that way you buy those parts that you need and not forced to pay more than you are willing.
dazzybee Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I think the rev controller, nunchuk and shell should be the controller package you buy. Thing is with a tennis game, could it detect how FAST you swing, also could it detect the angle for slices, top spin etc. Or would you hold a button for the different moves?? (Rhetorical q by the way) Yeah I would like companies to be as innovative as possible, but I think it will be up to Nintendo and their second parties top lead the way, lead by example. They should alsohave a team of people who work with 3rd parties on innovative ways to use the controller.
Ginger_Chris Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 For cross party games, if a company wants to put the effort in and adopt the contollers unique control style to produce a better game, it will profit them and boost their reputation. However if they feel that its not worth spending the extra develoment time on adapting, nintendo shouldn't cut off the games. They need all the 3rd party support they can get, all the consoles do. We may even get more 3rd party support for the controller with the shell, as they are more likely to include the rev in the developement cycle. Its a good thing that the shell is available, and its a good thing that its not sold with the main controler, as it puts a little pressure to adapt.
Kurtle Squad Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 There wouldn't be THAT much use 4 the Nunchuck then......Though i guess FPSs would be WAY better with it!!

Since it can measure where it is in the room at any one time the rev could perform simple physics calculations. i.e The controller moved from point (x,y,z) to point (x1,y1,z1) in .05 seconds ... therefore it was going at X speed. Hope that made sense.
monkeyDluffy Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 most normal games will work with the controller anyway in someway, in the industry/developer feed back one of them makes a comment about wanting to play splinter cell with a normal controller but it would work just as well with the new controller, cause the 3rd person action game has the same controls more or less as a FPS. Move old sam around using the stick, look around using the remote just like normal, wiggle the remote around to pick locks etc, twist the controller towards a wall to stand against it, twist the opposite way to get off again, move the controller down to crouch etc would work well and lack of buttons won't be a problem plus i think it would make the game better with little or no extra development time so ports are easier, most of the time it might be just replacing the right stick with the controller movements etc so third parties have nothing to complain about really they don't have to re-invent the wheel with every game, but they can if they want or just provide a didn't experience with the same old kind of game and isn't having the option to be able to do something different if you want to or experience something new for an old genre also a mini revolution in itself. I've just thought how cool would a super monkey ball be, hold the controller as if you're gonna use the nes part and then just just controll the game like normal.
King_Mushroom Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 ^^^ nice point Monkey. I think its taking awhile for the whole concept to sync in with people. Like monkey has menioned the 'pointer' is MUCH more than an alternative to an analogue stick. With his examples above you can eliminate the need for many button simply buy performing INTUITIVE actions like lowering your controller. 'twisting' your controllers to lean like mentioned above would not only be quick intuitive and easy... it would also be satisfiing watching your REALWORLD action replicated on the screen - it may even be darn right freaky. 1
MunKy Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Has anybody thought that the Nunchuk could fit into the shell? that would make it cheaper.
