Zechs Merquise Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Join me on Extinction mode, me and Welsh got to the cabin last night. IT WAS AWESOME!! There was so much going on and an huge alien chasing us. Love that mode soooo much! We're getting better at Extinction, however I think we need to adopt the following tactics on the second barrier hive: 1) Weaponise all the environmental traps - and keep them weaponised. There's two electric fences right in front of the barrier hive and a fire trap to the right. These seriously stem the waves of aliens. 2) At the beginning when there's not many aliens attacking us we need to all concentrate on firing at the barrier hive and reducing its health as quickly as possible. When the bigger aliens come and there's more of them, then leave it to the chopper and pick up the slack when the waves die off. 3) Keep putting out armour vests and ditch regular ammo. At this stage of the game no one should be bringing regular ammo with them, we should all have explosive or incendiary ammo as standard. 4) There is an element of luck to all this, if you get the right challenges early on you end up taking on the later hives so much better prepared. We really need to nail all the early challenges, and when the accuracy one comes up - one person and one person alone needs to be in charge of making that one crucial shot to set the accuracy at 100%. 5) Finally, I'll be level 22 after one more game, so I'll have the sentry turret, which should drastically increase our chances. Once we're all level 22 or higher things should get easier.
Blade Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I think it is me thats chucking the regular ammo out. How do you upgrade it?
Zechs Merquise Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 I think it is me thats chucking the regular ammo out. How do you upgrade it? Hahahaha, I would never have guessed... Before you start the game when you're in the pre-game lobby you can go to the option that says 'Load Out'. In that area you can change your class and what you bring with you: I always choose weapon specialist, as when you use your Skill Points to max out your gun you end up with 170% damage. I then bring explosive ammo, armour, an IMS and a turret. The more you level up the better the stuff you can access. I'm nearly level 22, at that level you can bring a sentry gun, which should make things far easier.

I'm nearly level 22, at that level you can bring a sentry gun, which should make things far easier. Yeah, the sentry turret is definitely key to finishing this. I think you can get two out once you level up further as well. Two turrets a piece would make short work of things. I think i'm only level 11 at the moment, need to crack on and level myself up.
Londragon Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Wii U Version Of Call Of Duty Ghosts Will Eventually Have Dedicated Servers Full story here; http://mynintendonews.com/2013/11/13/wii-u-version-of-call-of-duty-ghosts-will-eventually-have-dedicated-servers/ Actually the story is rather short, with a company representative answering, "Yes", to a yes/no question. This is one of the main reasons I bought my copy of the game, only to find out that that wasn't the case, so this news is great to listen to. Just hope they get a move on with it. Maybe soon after the XBone and PS4 versions are released.
Kav Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 On the patch they got rid of the "snap-to" aim assist for the Wiimote... which they needed to really to nerf the snipers. You'd not believe how crazily I was owning the other night.
Hero-of-Time Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Played extinction mode with some randoms today. Just about everytime I played we got to the end, only for us to get wiped out. I think I have a good strategy for it now though. Any of the N-E faithful be online today?

lostmario Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Well this is interesting. The next Call of Duty game, confirmed for later this year, will be developed by Sledgehammer Games. The developer joins Treyarch and Infinity Ward in what is now to be a three year development cycle for COD games. The news came as part of Activision’s investor call, and it marks what is arguably the biggest behind-the-scenes shift in the Call of Duty franchise to date – with the exception of Infinity Ward losing multiple members of its studio, including its founders, following a nasty legal dispute with Activision. Ever since the release of Call of Duty 2, Infinity Ward and Treyarch have been alternating development on the series’ main releases, with each studio taking two years to develop its game, thus ensuring that a new Call of Duty title can hit shelves each year. Annual releases will likely remain, but now each developer will have three years to work on their respective Call of Duty game. It was always assumed that there would be a Call of Duty release in 2014, but this is the first official confirmation. With Sledgehammer working on the 2014 game and Infinity Ward behind last year’s Ghosts, it’s likely that Treyarch will be responsible for the Call of Duty release in 2015. Infinity Ward would then develop for 2016, and the cycle would reset in 2017 with Sledgehammer again. Sledgehammer is a relatively new studio, founded by industry vets Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield. The pair took a major risk and formed their own studio, then helped to complete Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 following Infinity Ward’s mass exodus. Condrey and Schofield released the following statement after the news broke: “Having the honor of developing the new, next-generation of Call of Duty is a developer’s dream come true. All of us here at Sledgehammer Games have a shared vision to create the best work of our lives. The next Call of Duty represents a new era for this amazing franchise, and we look forward to sharing what we have been working on. “Today is just the beginning, there is so much more to come!” There is still no word on what Sledgehammer is planning, although it has been in development for a while now, probably since the studio completed work on Modern Warfare 3 in 2011. If the past Call of Duty reveal pattern is any indication, we should find out within the next few months.
Kav Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Yeah, announced yesterday. I wonder if the WiiU will get the next one... I wonder if I'll bother actually too.

canand Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 We have got DLC http://mynintendonews.com/2014/03/05/call-of-duty-ghosts-update-brings-free-fall-map-to-wii-u/
Hero-of-Time Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 We have got DLC http://mynintendonews.com/2014/03/05/call-of-duty-ghosts-update-brings-free-fall-map-to-wii-u/ Bah! I thought this was the new Extinction stuff. Still, it's nice to see it's still getting some support. Here's what the update does. Ghosts Wii U - Update - 3/4/2014 Game Update Notes: March 4, 2014 – 120.76.0 Features/Changes Free Fall multiplayer map is now available and added to various playlists. Stability Fixed an issue where the Squad Reports Screen would occasionally hang on a black screen. Fix for a rare bots crash. Improved operations functionality. Additional Fixes Fix for broken operations – playing a ranked game will restore operations Fixed an issue where throwing a tactical grenade could cause the player to switch weapons Fixed a Lobby Migration issue that would force the Create a Soldier screen to close Fix to keep the Grenade Cook Timer from becoming difficult to see Fixed an inconsistency in the presentation of profile names when switching controllers Fixed an issue that could occur at the start of a Safeguard match where the friends list would become inaccessible Fixed an issue where the scoreboard on the Wii U GamePad would not automatically re-open after changing Loadouts Fix for Leaderboards no longer updating properly after a disc eject Fixed a stuck spot that could be entered while crouching near an overturned table (Siege) Fixed issue that would occur when having hardline as last perk with specialist. Added no enemy callouts to incog perk description. Fixed an issue where connecting to a Squads game could potentially see the buttons/title for an incorrect Squad mode. Fixed incorrect indexing of perks with squads that had defined loadouts. Fixed splitscreen UI bug where the dom capture bar would be in the way of the reticle. Fix to validate reticle type even when switching sights. Fix for sound issue when seeker explodes. Fix for final escape being broken by player jumping off cliff after nuke activation. Fix for drill disappearing when grabbing the drill after using SOFLAM. Fixed unlimited weapon glitch in first contact. Various additional fixes I can't believe they've just got around to fixing the glitches in Extinction mode. I was gutted when they fixed them on the 360 version as the unlimited weapon glitch made the game mode even more fun. The cliff jumping one was pretty cheap though and eliminated any kind of skill that was needed to escape.
Kav Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Wow, can't believe @canand's persistence is paying off! Canand, now tweet the hell out of them to fix the game and make it how it used to be like in the MW/MW2 & Black Ops days!

Well done, if you were in the bar tonight I would buy you a few drinks!

Zechs Merquise Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 The new map is an utter cluster fuck! I'm a big fan of the new and larger maps in Ghosts, generally they give you more breathing space. But Free Fall is tiny and you're literally on top of other players for the whole game! I did get my Juggernaut out the second time I played it, but it was hectic. The goal seems to be to get sentry guns out, then you own the map.
