Dcubed Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Chris Seavor just uploaded a bunch of videos on his channel, with him playing CBFD, giving audio commentary! Here's part 1... Looking forward to watching these later on!
S.C.G Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 And here's part 2! Genuinely fascinating videos, I'll be tuning in for the rest also its made me want to dig out my N64 and set it up more permanently.
Dcubed Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) Fing blinding stuff. I never noticed the drummer actually hitting the bass in time to the music The game had such amazing attention to detail! (that being said, Ken Lobb made the right call with that cutscene suggestion; it wasn't clear enough that the player should go to the barn first - though the rest of the tutorial section was masterfully done!) It's a shame that the whistling animation never got done in time and that DK64 Expansion Pak tidbit is just... wow! I wouldn't have thought it possible for the game to be running just fine without it! (though as they rightfully pointed out, that DK64 crash bug was a blessing in disguise as it allowed for such high penetration that PD could require it without much worry). It's really funny to see just how many characters in the game were based on their own colleagues (and that anecdote about the geordy bum was just priceless ). God I miss the good ol' days of Rareware Oh and this comment... People today are all 'Oh, it's a far more complicated business making games today, that's why there are 4000 people on them' but I would say the reason why there are 4000 people on them is that 3950 of them are fucking redundant cunts. Looking forward to the rest of the vids (HURRY UP YOU LAZY BASTARDS! ) Edited May 29, 2013 by Dcubed
Kaepora_Gaebora Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Only watched the first one, Brilliant! Especially liked the anecdote about the Banjo head, and the fact that the 'Barns' were so competitive against each other, which was the reason why Rare games were so good back in the day, they all wanted to out do each other!! 3 men pissed up rambling about a game they created, who knew it would be so interesting!
tapedeck Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Yep. This is awesome. Seavour has a bit of a reputation as a big time Charlie from other Rare staffers - which you can see in the way he comes across. But that's what's needed in some ways - especially when you are designing and producing games. Good on him for making this. Really does make you pine for the good old Rare. Where the hell are the Stamper brothers in all of this?!
flameboy Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 On episode 3 now.So good funny but also very insightful.I liked how they described how the arm bands were a visual cue to stop you trying to dive. "HA a frying pan" best line ever.
Dcubed Posted June 26, 2013 Author Posted June 26, 2013 (edited) Parts 7-12 are finally out! Some nice Killer Instinct talk here too http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbRUl7dkRVPKlYiUq4TmEaQ?feature=watch Warning, watching them try to collect the bees may make you want to top yourself... Shame that they weren't able to get the KKK costume in for the paintbrush & pot, would've been funny... Hey! It's Twelve Tales! We gonna talk about that one? No. Cunts...
