Retro_Link Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/05/16/sega-trademarks-sonic-lost-world SEGA has trademarked "Sonic Lost World" leading to speculation that this will be the title of the next game in the franchise. Originally spotted by Siliconera, the trademark was filed yesterday by SEGA for use with video games, though it currently only covers Europe. There's been a fair few rumours lately that the next Sonic the Hedgehog game is already well into development and targeted for a November release, but this is all supposition. The name makes it sound like a would-be sequel to Sonic and the Secret Rings & Sonic & the Black Knight... with Sonic potentially going pre-historic or something?... However those weren't exactly the most popular games in the series, and after the more successful Sonic Colours and Sonic Generations, you'd think the next game would continue down that route. Have to wait and see!
Jonnas Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 While it does evoke pre-historic setting, it's entirely possible that it isn't. And even if it is, it's also possible it could fit (like the wisps in Sonic Colours), or that the environment won't affect gameplay drastically, like it did in Black Knight. In the end, a name is just a name
Retro_Link Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 Indeed. Yeah Lost World could be anything really. And like you say, could just lend itself to providing another Wisp-like set of creatures.
Agent Gibbs Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Wasn't the lost world a location in the sonic comics from the 90's? accessed through big rings? something about this topic evoked memories of that
f00had Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 There was a stage in Sonic Adventure 1 called Lost World, it was some kinda pyramid place. Maybe this new game will be related to Adventure?
