I love the way that they state '18 games scored over 90...' when it's actually 16... multiformat games should not be counted more than once unless they are sufficiently different.

Mass Effect 3 and Far Cry 3 are the same games regardless of format.

Quite surprising statistics.

The "best" game is more of an interactive story (a brilliant one) and clearly doesn't have the productions values of big "AAA" games. It's refreshing to see a game like that just high up.

Next you have a remake of a PS2 game on a supposedly "failed" console.

Then Mass Effect 3. Now that's one of the strangest - and most disturbing - situations I've seen. It does deserve the spot, and it is a brilliant game. I'm referring to the fan hatred found in most corners of the internet. I mentioned that I liked the game on Eurogamer and the result was that my post was given so many negative votes (something I'm glad N-Europe doesn't have) that the post was "hidden".

The hatred is fascinating - the official forums are worst and the two heads of BioWare stated this Zaire fan hatred as one of their reasons for leaving the company. This fan hatred doesn't happen to just BioWare, it's evident on quire a few official forums (I'm surprised any game developer has a forum). The most mind-boggling thing is that it seems that, overall, these people loved Mass Effect 3 and they'll likely buy the next game without question.

Yes, I was also disappointed with the ending, but in my complaints I said that I did love 99% of the game. I was also satisfied with the "Extended Cut" where BioWare added a ton of explanations to the ending (in the original ending you were given vague information and some random scenes that made no sense), and I'm glad they stuck with their vision. The people who weren't satisfied got into their head that BioWare were going to make the end a "dream" and to create a whole new one. While the "Indoctrination Theory" for the ending was well thought out, nobody seemed to have any good ideas on what follows - what the actual ending would be.

Assassin's Creed 3 is also good to bring into this. The ending was much worse than Mass Effect 3. However, nobody ever cared about Desmond, so there wasn't really much in the way of complains.

I don't know whether I'm worth my salt as a gamer anymore, because I've only really played 2 of those 'over 90' games - xenoblade and journey(which was only recently too). Would say they were certainly two of the best games I've played though.

I haven't played any of them! :p

I have Journey downloaded and ready to play, and I've played Okami on the Wii, but yeah!

I know this doesn't help, and in fact if anything achieves the opposite but: you really have to play it. It'll take maybe...4 hours max for a playthrough? It really is a journey. One of the most beautiful games I've ever played. That's not even from an aesthetic point of view, but I might have just been fortunate with my so far single playthrough.
