General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Recommended Posts

Former Gem and THQ employee Richard Stickler (pictured) has joined Nintendo as ecommerce channel sales manager and will be dealing with Amazon, The Hut and ShopTo.

His move comes as part of Nintendo's restructuring of its UK sales and marketing team. Elsewhere, Jose Martinez has been promoted to the role of head of digital at Nintendo UK after previously working as digital manager since 2010. Martinez will report to marketing and PR director Shelly Pearce and continue to manage community and social media manager Jonathan Town and junior digital content manager Ashley Day.

Louise Powell has been promoted to senior trade marketing manager. Lauren Simmonds will report to Powell when she joins the team as trade marketing executive in September.

Completing the restructured team are promotions for Jon Stanton, who is now specialist channel sales manager, and Ian McMillan, who becomes category manager. Stanton will be in charge of the GameStop Ireland and GAME UK accounts, and both he and McMillan will be reporting to sales director Andy Yates.

“2013 is an exciting year for Nintendo, and we are delighted to not only be welcoming new team members to the UK office but to have the opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication of our existing team,” says Simon Kemp, general manager of Nintendo UK.

Wii U has nothing in Japan until to Pikmin 3. Not sure how low it can go but 5k a week looks on the horizon.

Not true

It gets:

Resident Evil Revelations on May 23rd

Injustice on June 6th

Rabbids Land on June 6th

F1 Race Stars Powered Up Edition on June 27th

Nothing first party until Pikmin, no, but it has releases

Ok, lets word it differently. No releases that will see the sales improve. The release schedule in Japan has been horrific.

Things are so bad for the Wii U in the UK right now.

But EA has pulled out of the Wii U because sales of both hardware and software are dreadful. We're not officially allowed to report sales numbers from Chart Track in the UK but everyone in the publishing business can see them quite clearly. There's no need for pretence. When you can get to number one in the Wii U charts by selling less than 1000 units it's no longer a tragedy, it's an actual farce.

He said no games. I pointed out there are some games coming. If he said no "relevant" or "good" games, then yes.

Nintendo need to market the bloody thing and sort out the retailers. Of course it and the games don't sell...nobody is fucking stocking them.

Current Wii u owners will know where to get games though. If a title like Lego undercover and injustice are selling so poorly then it's another problem. In each region things are not great but the UK seems worse than all.

I wonder how bad the Wii U is doing historically compared to other consoles in the past like the Sega Saturn.

Not sure about the Saturn but I'm pretty sure I read it's tracking below the Gamecube and Dreamcast.

Wii U is in a big hole right now. Even if sales were to double or treble on a monthly basis the numbers would still be horrible and that's the problem. It is going to take one massive change of fortunes to see the console selling 250k - 300k a month. Not sure its possible.

3DS LL 24,123

3DS 13,001

PS3 10,948

Vita 10,931

PSP 6,524

Wii U 6,037

Wii 1,143

Xbox 360 349

Everything drops

For what period are those figures? Given it seemed to affect stock prices, I'm interested to see if XBone's reveal affects sales of other systems at all.
