French developer Quantic Dream's latest project, a tech demo that shows the progression the studio has made since 2010's Heavy Rain as well as laying a foundation for its next game, is to be unveiled today - and you'll be able to see it first here on Eurogamer.

Quantic Dream's founder and CEO David Cage will take to the stage at San Francisco's GDC later today to unveil the tech demo and talk about the philosophy behind it.

It's similar in purpose - and in impact - to 2006's The Casting, the PlayStation 3 tech demo that served as the foundation for thriller Heavy Rain.

You'll be able to see the demo here at Eurogamer from 10.30pm GMT, and we'll bring you exclusive insight from Cage. Take our word for it - it's well worth tuning in.

It's a cool tech demo, although naturally it doesn't necessarily tell us much about Quantic Dream's next project. I'd be surprised if it wasn't along similar lines, though, much as with The Casting.

As a tech demo, what's it showing off exactly? It doesn't seem to be anything that hasn't already been done? And as a potential story concept it's nothing new either, so I don't really see what the point was?

It's showing off a real-time PS3 graphics engine and the results of QD's improved performance capture.

Compare it to

and I imagine you'll appreciate the advancement a bit more.

lol, OK yeah a noticable upgrade from that... but tbf Heavy Rain looked alot better than that tech demo.

I guess I was comparing it to the likes of LA Noire and Mass Effect 2 and 3, which meant KARA didn't seem anything particularly new.

Reminds me of an episode of The Outer Limits with the end result not being favourable for those concerned. Really would like to see this concept fleshed out as the particular choices the player would be faced with could be very taxing and not so binary as those you find in most multiple choice/route games.

I love how QD just does whatever the hell it wants, regardless of sales trends.

Very much looking forward to whatever comes out of this.
