dan-likes-trees
Saw this today. Gosling and Carey Mullighan (plus briefly Christina Hendricks). Bit style over substance I found. like, completely. But it was very stylish. Also it has the main bloke from Breaking Bad! Took me a while to realize. He's good too. /Can't be bothered to writer very much.
Paj!
Oh I meant to make a thread. I was stunned. UGH @ 'style over substance'. Please, this isn't Sucker Punch. I can imagine @Daft would like this though, the aesthetic is so tasty. I loved. The font/colour of the font used/music/VISUALS (mm) were e'erthing. UGH is a bit harsh - it's a pretty valid point - none of the characters were at all fleshed out, and the plot was pretty basic. Arguably there's quite alot of substance to be found the style itself though, which differenciates it from (I would assume, though have not seen) Sucker Punch and such films. To say a film is style over substance isn't necessarily damning, so long as there's weight behind the style. I agree with your last line, will be getting my hands on the soundtrack, and the opening titles were pretty great. Interesting the general quietness of the film in general, seems to be a trend among films lately, Tinker Tailor, Animal Kingdom (which had similar ambient soundtrack for much of it) from the last year.. Sold. Alas, she's barely in it.. boo
