Im playing Lego Avengers at the moment and have just unlocked him. Dude is crazy OP, having the powers of multiple characters all rolled into one. He's one of the few Marvel characters I've never even heard of. Been years since I read it but yeah, he had a big Avengers event in the late 70s called the Korvac Saga. I think some version may have come back in the 2000s bit he's definitely one of the few bad guys that had such a massive story that wasn't then constantly brought back afterwards. 1
martinist Posted July 13 Posted July 13 (edited) Finished reading Berserk. Kinda sucks that it ended where it did. Casca got her sanity back and you find out who the boy is thats been appearing from time to time. Looked like he was setting a lot of stuff up with Falconia and introducing some new characters near the end. Schierke and Farnese's characters were getting alot of development, like he was building to something with them. But oh well. Hopefully his guys finish it eventually. Guess I'll start reading Shaman King... Edited July 13 by martinist
Happenstance Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Unfortunately I've had to stop buying omnibus as I just don't have the space anymore so most future comics will be digital again. I'm allowing myself to get this Daredevil one as it's the first of a set that I already have the rest of and I'll finish off the last 2 Uktimate Spider-Man books as they have a definitive end.
Happenstance Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Trying to decide what to do at the moment. I hate seeing all these new books being announced and not getting them after having put so much work into this collection. I'm going to think about it some more but what I might do is just limit any purchases from now on to Spider-Man and X-Men titles with them being my favourite series then maybe the odd book if it's a special one to me.
Hero-of-Time Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I take it putting up more shelving or buying more bookcases is not an option?
Happenstance Posted August 4 Posted August 4 2 minutes ago, Hero-of-Time said: I take it putting up more shelving or buying more bookcases is not an option? Yeah no more space at all but to be honest its also the expense. These aren't cheap books and buying every book I'm interested in just costs to much so I've decided I will go with that plan I was talking about and slim it all right back to just Spider-Man and X-Men. I already have enough of them that its mostly just filling gaps in their history now and as I'm not as interested in their modern stories I may not even bother with those which could give me a nice stopping point. So with that decided I've ordered the 2 Spidey books that came out while I was on my 2 month break. Quite excited to get into the Michelinie & Bagley one for some Venom and Carnage stories. 2
Happenstance Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Expanded out slightly to allow the Star Wars Legends line back into my omnibus purchases. It was the plan originally but I dropped them for a while. I just think with there being a beginning and end to that line as it's the old expanded universe then it's fun to try and get them all. Plus apparently Tales of the Jedi is one of the best books and New Republic volume has both the original Thrawn Heir to the Empire story and Dark Empire trilogy that everyone raves about so it would have been a bad place to stop just before those.
Happenstance Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Sad to hear John Cassaday passed away today as well at the age of 52. I loved his work on Astonishing X-Men with Joss Whedon. 1
Hero-of-Time Posted September 10 Posted September 10 That's crazy. He was so young. Is there any word on how he passed away?

Apparently someone mentioned on a livestream that it was a heart attack but that hasn't been verified yet. I even saw Mark Millar asking if anyone knew what happened and he was friends with Cassaday so I don't think a lot of info is out there yet. 1
Happenstance Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Last of the September purchases then other than the X-Men X-Tinction Agenda omnibus it should be relatively quiet for the rest of the year.
Happenstance Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Vol.2 of the main Uncanny X-Men omnibus' finally got a reprint so ordered my copy. Nice to have the Phoenix Saga in omnibus now. 1
Hero-of-Time Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Popped into Forbidden Planet yesterday, which I think is the first time doing so since the pandemic. Me and my mate went in with the intention of buying something but both came out empty handed. There were a few trades I was interested in but the problem was they didn't have the starts or ends of them. It was always the middle parts of the story which was useless. Also, the prices were pretty steep. I was looking at the deluxe edition of one of the Power Ranger books and they were asking £65 for it. Amazon has it for £44. It's no wonder the high street is dying.
Happenstance Posted November 7 Posted November 7 The Power Rangers deluxe editions go up and down in price a lot as they get limited runs. You regularly see some of the older ones £65 or higher.
Happenstance Posted November 13 Posted November 13 X-Men X-tinction Agenda omnibus finally came in stock to order.
Happenstance Posted yesterday at 03:11 PM Posted yesterday at 03:11 PM Trying to make an effort to get back into digital comics so I grabbed a few that are currently on sale. Obviously I was highly influenced by my Superman trailer hype but £1.50 each is a lot cheaper than £60 each for a physical omnibus 😆
Happenstance Posted yesterday at 03:46 PM Posted yesterday at 03:46 PM Ok maybe not as good for my wallet as I thought. I hadn't realised that it's not just Superman books that are about £1.50 each but all DC books. Too good of a deal not to take advantage of so I think I'll probably end up getting a lot more! 1
Hero-of-Time Posted yesterday at 03:56 PM Posted yesterday at 03:56 PM Love All-Star Superman. Great story.

I've read it once but because I've never liked Frank Quitely's art it was hard to get beyond that so I decided to give it another shot. Finished buying some more. I think this should do it for the moment. There were others I wanted like the Cassandra Cain Batgirl series but as I've been out of the loop for so long I need to find out what's a re-release and what isn't. Annoyingly a lot of these books seem to have stopped around 2018 even though there was more to go. Anyway I'll just list the rest instead of posting a shit load of images: Wonder Woman by Greg Rucka - Vol. 1-3 Aquaman by Peter David - Books 1 & 2 Kingdom Come DC: The New Frontier Supergirl by Peter David - Books 1-4 Doomsday Clock: The Complete Collection Batgirl: Stephanie Brown - Vol. 1 & 2 1
Hero-of-Time Posted yesterday at 04:39 PM Posted yesterday at 04:39 PM I was always intrigued with the Doomsday Clock storyline but never picked it up.

I've got it in tpb and really enjoyed it which is why I wanted to pick it up again. It's just a shame that it had so many delays and Geoff Johns was on the way out by the end as I really liked the ending and where it left the DCU, pretty much fixing the New 52 properly but by the time it finished they'd already started to take other books another direction so most of what Doomsday Clock did was forgotten.

Sounds about right for comic books. I keep checking out X-Men storylines and a lot of what Hickman set up with the Krakoa era seems to have been binned off now. You reading his Ultimate Spider-Man stuff? Apparently it's really good.

Oddly enough that's what I've got open right now, I'm just re-reading the first arc and yeah it is really good, much better than the mainline Spider-Man books these days.
