ReZourceman Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I know literally nothing about this show, but I just saw a teaser (ambulance) and it had the dude from Facejacker and the dude from Bellamy's People. Thus it should be awesome.
Retro_Link Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 ahaha, I saw the advert for this when they're driving the ambulance with the siren on and mixing in different beats/sound fx... Brilliant!
ReZourceman Posted June 27, 2011 Author Posted June 27, 2011 Reminder ; this starts tonight on Channel 4.
Dog-amoto Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I'm still smarting from watching the C4' "comedy" Phone Shop and this looked similar so I'll probably give it a miss.
ReZourceman Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 Damn. The first 6-10 minutes or so aren't very promising, but it raises its game after that. I actually thoroughly enjoyed it in the end! Wasn't quite sure what to expect seeing as it trailed as a pretty low brow comedy, but it was more of a drama-comedy-win-thing. Also an hour long so it let the story hook play out nicely. Impressed!
ReZourceman Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 Who is going to be watching tonight? I did a video review. Really looking forward to the episode actually. This review is relatively spoiler free (it just outlines the premise a bit).
Kurtle Squad Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I think Sirens is great so far. The second episode is better than the first (they usually are). It's really hard to describe the premise of it all though.
ReZourceman Posted July 11, 2011 Author Posted July 11, 2011 Yeah I'm really really liking it now. This episode has started off pretty strong too.
flameboy Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Agreed I am also really into, being set in Leeds which is close to me is awesome as well. One thing though which I could see putting people off is that Stuart is quite an unlikeable character. He has this air of arrogance about him and self-righteousness that would stop a lot of viewers routing for him as such. I love it though, all his neurosis.
Hamishmash Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Well I was gonna watch this mainly because the 3 lead actors are all people I really like from other stuff, and while I do have an issue with drama-comedies (they're not funny enough to be comedies or dramatic enough to be dramas and usually feel very unfulfilling) but I'm liking this. Stuart is very easy for me to relate to, and Ashley gets a lot of the same sorts of "gay questions" from Rachid that I get so I find that quite funny. I thought the most recent episode's dead guy angle was a little meh... felt less homage, and more rip-off of American Werewolf. But it's a show I'm gonna stick with now.

Yup I work with two gay guys and am constantly asking them dumb questions just for the sake of it cos its part of our banter.
