Was just about to create a thread about this myself after reading the eurogamer review, I played the tits out of dirt 2 so will be picking this up at some point, but will have to wait a little while as im expecting LA Noire to keep me busy for a few months.

Hope the multiplayer is still as tight as it was in dirt 2, always managed some epic races!!

Loving it so far. Much more Rally focused than the last but still retains that fun element. Don't remember the amount of tweaking being in the last one either. Adds some strategy to each race :)

Gorgeous game and damn it's fast!

Typical I can't play online because Playstation Store isn't up so I can't reedeem the online pass or record any you tube vids.

The Youtube feature is a nice touch but I doubt i'll ever use it as I suck at driving :). Just unlocked Gymkhana. Again due to my crapness I found it really hard to drift and what not. Got the hang of it in the end and actually won an online race so I can't be THAT bad.

At least you can play online - I'm still waiting on the playstation store come back.

Gymkhana is all kinds of awesome.

Got it today. Works really well with the wheel. I'm not as good with it, but it's more fun than a pad.

Not a huge fan of the "extreme" theme it seems to be going for. Much prefer classic rally games. WRC and the like.

And I was particularly offended by the introduction of Ken Block. "The man who single handedly raising the popularity of rally". Anyone else remember Colin McRae? The guy who originally had his name on tonnes of rally games, including this one? The guy who's death inspired a 30 mile long convoy in his honour?

This game is bloody brilliant, Everything is so much fun, I love racing with the camera through the eyes of the drives, makes it so intense, I uploaded a few videos, one from gymkhana and a little mini battle, shame you can only have 30 seconds.

The annoying thing about Gymkhana is the fact that I'd probably be pretty good at it if I used the pad. I just don't want to keep swapping between the pad for Gymkhana and the wheel for racing.

That's not really fair, Ken Block is bringing Rallying to a whole new audience... not only a US audience but to the internet through his gymkhana's.

Of course Colin McRae's name will live on, but it's not draw for the sport is it.

I didn't know there were seemingly quite a few rally fans here. Anyone think about going to Rally GB this year? I wouldn't have a clue where to start with where to watch/photograph from.

Viper i presume your using the handbrake? B button? use a combination of the normal brake and when you want to bung it into a spin give the B button a bash and hard on the gas.

Oh Goafer if you listen to the introduction video of Ken Block the guy says he introduced Gymkhana to a whole new audience not rallying, You have to move on, the fact they still have his cars and the colin mcrae foundation liveries means they havent quite forgotten about him yet.

Not anymore it's not, but his name launched the Dirt series. I just take objection to the fact that they said Ken Block single handedly raised awareness of rally. Single handed my arse.

Bit of a tangent:

And besides, Gymkhana is for sissies anyway. The skill level is insane, but anyone can practice to that level when there's no real consequences to crashing. If you search on YouTube for Colin McRae, you'll find that he was fearless. Also a slight bit mental. He raced full bore all the time, which is why he had so many spectacular crashes. Still carried on.

Although this isn't one of his most spectacular crashes, it shows why he was great. A full roll, carries on without flinching and only loses by a fraction of a second:

Not really having a go at Gymkhana and Ken Block, I genuinely like it, just pointing out that real rallying is better : peace:

Rallying is pretty much the only motorsport I like. What happens in the WRC is just insane. Racing through forests by the seat of your pants is just mental. No gravel traps, no walls, just trees to cushion the blow. Balls of steel the lot of them.

The really need to something about the 'slowing down at the end of a stage to get a better running order for the next', it's a joke... they need to devise a new rule/system of running somehow.

It's funny. As soon as I posted I thought to myself. "That handbrake really isn't working very well". I look in the instructions, and it's the bloody B button!! I've spent the entire time playing under the assumption it's the same as Dirt 2 and A is handbrake...it's amazing I made it through any Gymkhanas!

Right thats the flaming done.

Like it's predecessor Dirt 3 has nailed the real driving feel, you have a real sense of every skid and bump. Graphically it continues to impress me too and it's damn fast.

Still can't fucking play online though because I can't enter my online pass in the Playstation Store.

360 guys hows the online?

I'd say the online is a lot more refined. I mean Dirt 2 was very smooth anyway. Rarely did I lag out at all. Also Flashback is now useable online too. Like single player you get a limited amount but it doesn't give you the option to rewind it'll just set you up at the speed and direction you were going before the crash.

This guys certainly knows where his handbrake button is - check out what he does 40 seconds in :o

I've mapped the handbrake to the gearstick on the wheel. It's great. Took a while to get used to, but it's second nature now. Feels much more realistic.

Getting the hang of gymkhana now as well.

That is a pretty sweet video, great reversing parts, loved the spin through the diggers arm. I can't get enough of this game.
