Daft Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 No, I'm not having a go at you. I want it to be better. I just think it's a bit bland at its core.
dwarf Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 n00b. I'd say that Nathan Hale was a shit character. But the backdrop for everything I thought was done very well. It wasn't in your face, and reading the intel documents whilst you're trapped in these creepy, depressive environments really worked for me. Did you ever play FoM with a friend? And you're not much of an online douche are you? Or are you?
Daft Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I played FoM co-op. It was fun but then co-op makes even shit games fun. I only play Halo, L4D1/2 and PGR online. I'm loving my 360 again.
dwarf Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Well I'll enjoy my purchase quietly then : oD Y'all continue your daily business chaps.
flameboy Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Well for all its "faults" I still think Resistance 2 was a great game and am certainly interested to where they take the story after the ending. Also despite not giving it as much time as I perhaps should have done I loved the multiplayer and arguably had more fun with it that MW2 which I wasn't that great at.
flameboy Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 hahaha lol yeah... Oh dwarf I still have FoM btw...you were asking if anyone did.
dwarf Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Cool. I'm thinking of getting back into the online if the community still exists (there's some pretty avid players I think) so maybe there'd be an opportunity to pair up with NE. Just for the lols and retro weirdnessitysksnkefnb. The ribbons felt so badass to collect. Plus, no shitty killstreaks to ruin your day.
LegoMan1031 Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Don't suppose anyone still has a copy? I also still have my copy of FoM, as well as R2.
Cookyman Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) You're welcome dwarf. Edited September 28, 2010 by Cookyman
Caris Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Looks way better than the mess that was Resistance 2.
Daft Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 It really does. I really hope they keep the lens effects (dust, vignetting, blurs, rainbows, etc), they look ace.
dwarf Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) Cheers. But I'm surprised you guys doubted I hadn't seen them :P But yeah, what to say really? > I wonder if that's a redesign of Capelli or not, unsure of whether both modellings share the same scar. The grims look pretty cool this time round, seems to be a lot of reappearences (as expected) of old chimeran strains. Surprised there hasn't been any concepts of the Cloven race yet, I think they'll play a major role, seeing as they haven't yet, but have been lying dormant in the sub-plottage. Those effects are very cool, but I can't see them being anything more than concepts. The vibe you get from this work and the trailer is nothing like I've seen in an actual videogame. Maybe the colour filters just don't work out well for constant gameplay, even though I reckon it'd look awesome. None of this is official yet though is it? Even though 99% chance this is real, the way it was leaked is strange, and Insomniac 'no comment'-ed. Blah, imma shurrup. Bytehway, R2 nailed the setting, it's just the actual environment design choices were poor, and there wasn't enough detail. The American Dream years, with all the 50s cars and feel-good cafeterias are fantastic areas for an alien invasion, and lore/propaganda is far more interesting than what it could have have been in R1, i.e. a drab Britain. Also for me its what made R2's single player far more compelling than Killzone 2 despite KZ2 being a technically better game.
dwarf Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 SEMEN EVERYWHERE Gameinformer are doing a detail blowout in next week's issue. Campaign and character details, as well as weapon system details etc etc OMHax! The Game Informer HUB will be launching tomorrow, which is month long Resistance 3 updates
Daft Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I hope they try something a little different. Maybe RPG it up a bit and put the emphasis on being a resistance on an overthrown Earth. Either way that train reminds me of Uncharted 2. Never a bad thing.
dwarf Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 This is why Insomniac win. http://insomniacgames.com/blogcast/podcasts/entry/1557600 A video about their development of R2. They're very in touch with the whole feedback community thing, and they clearly show a great understanding. Plus, there's a funny at the end.
heroicjanitor Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Nice Cookyman, hadn't seen those before. FOM was much better than Resistance 2. A bit grittier and the graphics style was better. Main thing was the storyline offline co-op. I was massively disappointed when that wasn't in Resistance 2. Hopefully 3 will have it.
Daft Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 This information comes from the latest issue of Game Informer… - Weapon wheel in the game - Capelli started a family with Susan(Hale’s Stepsister) - Malikov is alive - Co-op campaign confirmed (Capelli, Malikov, & John Harper) are key characters - No alternate story co-op similar to Resistance 2 - Scenes described in the magazine, some are related to the leaked pictures - African Prison is one map - Chimeran Plant Life (explodes when shot) shows the world is changing - Boat scenes from the campaign described - New, smarter AI - Climb over walls, through windows - Long legs jumping from roof to roof shooting down at you - The Mutator is a new weapon, shoots biological mist which causes boils and other elements on the enemy - Then it makes them pop, which hurts other nearby enemies - Secondary fire makes them go crazy, attack their cohorts - Bullseye, Magnum, Shotgun, Auger, carbine returning - Upgrade weapons as you use them more and more - Weapons have been made to look more improvised - Grenades are shaped like food cans full of nails - Online discussed, not much known yet - Want to make it more organized, not a cluster like the 60 player matches in Resistance 2 - Ted Price handed the reigns to Marcus Smith to do much of the other work - Humans are eating other foods due to a lack of food - Vaccine might be able to cure the chimeran virus - Capelli is doing this in order to save his son - He goes with Malikov to New York, St. Louis, etc. - No more gas, everything needs to run off of Chimeran Energy cores - The cores have to be stolen from chimeran ships Sounds interesting. I like the idea of the world changing and the upgradable weapons. With a name like Resistance I always wanted some added survival RPG type thing. At least something a bit more than a linear shooter.

Looks like they're ironing out their conforming of typical FPS staples, the sins they made in R2, and just going for the unrealistic victory of FoM. 9 variants of rofl launchers on your back that aren't even visible is good, not bad. -Campaign co-op is win, any straight-out FPS is better with multiple people -Glad they aren't doing online co-op. As insomniac admitted to in their video-blog (link I posted above) too many resources were put in different areas. The co-op section didn't feel complete in any case -African Prison? Sounds perfect for a map! Plus, Africa is presumably in campaign. Variety victory -Climbing/interaction: deffo needed, exploring felt too bot-like, as if you were just a moving blob that could jump. -More awesome weapons -Online is being streamlined. Thank God. Daft Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Yeah, it all sounds promising. Even the story sounds a lot more personal which is great, I have had enough of the epic space operas. This is the first Resistance game I've had high hopes for.
dwarf Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Yeah, the impression I'm getting is that this is more interpersonal, less vague, and more specific on individuals and their relationships, hardships, and their particular struggle. I.e. this game is more of a novel than a general mass-market FPS. Less of a Cod, more of a Heavy Rain. Flavour. I like. And it's Resistance. dwarfhappyislolhehtubesuccess. piccie of me during the updates:

dwarf Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I assume you've also been checking out the Resistance 3 Hub on Gameinformer? One of the Insomniac video interviews had a few uplifting details, but so far there's not been anything you can really jump up for joy about. Well, sort of. And it sounds like piccies aren't going to be revealed for a while.
