david.dakota Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I've offered to sort out a PC later this week, its lost connectivity to the net. However; i know that it lacks any virus check too so intend to get one on there. I'm not spending my own cash on it though, and doubt the owners of said PC would kep up subs anyway. Now, I recall AVG offering a free virus check in the past- do they still offer that? Any other sources of free virus checks about?
triforcemario Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 AVG still offer a free anti-virus, however, these days, I'd defiantly recommend Avast! Free Edition over AVG. It's a lot less bloated, uses a lot less system resources, and updates much more frequently. (Only downside is that once a year, you have to get a new license key from their website, which is free as well).
Ten10 Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Comodo Antivirus suite or AVG with Malware bytes.
Nolan Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I certainly second triforcemario, Avast is superb. Keeps me Virus free.
Cube Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I use AVG Free, not that I've ever needed it since I got my own PC.
Platty Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I use Avira Antivir personal. It's free, has daily definition updates and recently come out of top against other virus checkers including pay ones... Plus the virus scanner bit is called "Luke Filewalker". I couldn't resist http://www.avira.com/en/download/index.php
