chairdriver Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 To be fair, I'd be quite disinterested in an 80s one. I'd much prefer songs of 2009, or Debut Singles, or Number 1s or something.
Paj! Posted September 18, 2009 Author Posted September 18, 2009 2009's not even over yet though. I considered no.1's. Or at least top5 in the Uk charts or something. We could just do an unthemed one, with the rule of no one that has come before blah blah? Would people prefer that to a themed one?
Ashley Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Couldn't you just provide a We7, Spotify and Youtube link for each song? Cover all your bases. And I'm not so hot on themes because I can't think of any. Other than "songs which remind you of Ashley." Could be fun. Although not 2009 because this year has been shit for music.
S.C.G Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Although not 2009 because this year has been shit for music. Blatant untruths! :p I'm not gonna rattle of a list but just no, not the best year for music certainly but shit? surely not... [/My Opinion]
Ashley Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 I dunno, of all the big new artists from this year I've only been able to stand one or two.
chairdriver Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 I dunno, of all the big new artists from this year I've only been able to stand one or two. All the more reason to do it, because you might discover music that you missed. 2009 was stunning for me. Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors, Neko Case, Two Suns, The Bachelor, Lungs, A Woman A Man Walked By, Juliette Lewis, Micachu etc etc
Paj! Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) Yeah, it's been pretty good for music. There seemed to be a bit of a lull at the start of the year, but it was dealt with. And yeah, I'll just provide links to it all. Ok, I'm thinking no theme, no artists from last time, and other possible minor format rearrangements (like providing lots of links), for MUSIC WARZ! 2. ---- Ok, no one else is going to vote, and unless I've counted wrong, I make the winner to be Tori Amos. Tori Amos was the first winner of Music Warz! I'm laughing/completely shocked. Edited September 19, 2009 by Paj!
Fierce_LiNk Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) Congratulations. I think for the next round, we should maybe...drop this idea that we need to justify exactly why we prefer certain songs over the others. When I say exactly, I mean having to detail every little reason why we love that song. I must admit, it was a bit patronising for those of us who happened to like a particular song not of the Amos variety. Edited September 19, 2009 by Fierce_LiNk

It felt like people were thinking "I love Everlong, and I know I love Everlong, so I won't give Tori Amos a listen." I was just asking people why they like Everlong - I was expecting someone to ask me why I like Cornflake Girl.

I was just asking people why they like Everlong - I was expecting someone to ask me why I like Cornflake Girl. But voting for one artist does not mean that you do not like the other one. Plenty of people in each round have said that they've liked both artists, but prefer one above the other. It's not a love or hate world, you can just like one thing a tiny bit more than the other. The same could be said for every round. You have no way of knowing that everyone has listened to both songs in any of the rounds, unless they purposefully state it. But, they're only cheating themselves. It's meant to be a friendly game, but it seemed to get a bit un-sporting or something towards the very end. I mean, the fact that Paj openly that he lied once or twice, I think it just went a bit far. I mean, you're worried that people were deliberately not going to like Tori Amos. I think the same can be said for Everlong, maybe.
Paj! Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 mmm...I really just meant that I enjoyed Everlong more than I used to, despite claiming I didn't in some sort of pointless spite. Hardly malicious lying. If anything, it was just lying to myself.
Roostophe Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 FFFIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIXXXXXXXX! I told you I was going to say it.
Paj! Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 Well it's your own fault for not encouraging more people to come and play. Considering it's really obvious who would have won if we did a proper cross-section of the forum. Both are good though, and It's not like Tori would have lost to a shit song/band.
Roostophe Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Wait, why is it my fault? You're the one who set it up so it was up to you to try and promote it a bit better. Nuffink to do wiv me, laddie. Nuh-uh.
Paj! Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 It's your fault because it deserves to be your fault. All you've ever done is try and belittle my achievements in life. Tonight, it ends. *readies pistol* Oh yeah! About to post the sign-up bit for the next Music Warz.
