Retro_Link Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 (edited) http://n-europe.com/news.php?nid=13227 Ubisoft announce a Shaun White: World Stage - a follow-up to last year's successful Wii outing for the snowboarding genre... Shaun White' Snowboarding released last year on Wii to commerical and critical success. Ubisoft managed to integrate Nintendo's own Balance Board into the gameplay to make experience realistic, but more importantly, fun. It's only natural that the publisher has commissioned a sequel to launch this holiday season. Shaun White: World Stage will release exclusively for Wii by the end of 2009. Once again developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the game keep the Balance Board functionality which made the original so fun for Wii gamers - and hopefully improve on the winning formula. Ubisoft promise to show more of World Stage at their E3 press conference on Monday, so stay tuned! I think this is great news; the original is a very good game, the balance board works great and it's really good fun. Obviously the Wii version sold well which is very encouraging and because of the visual style the Wii version had I guess production is cheaper and quicker, meaning we're getting an exclusive sequel in time for Christmas! I think many people overlooked it because they thought the visuals and presentation were lacking, based on dodgy screens that were released throughout it's development; however they final product was actually a great stylised game. What I'd like in a sequel: - Personally I'd like to see a few longer courses in the sequel and maybe a few more races. - Don't know if multiple balance boards is ever possible, but that would be a great addition! - And of course online would be another great addition. - Maybe the opportunity for custom SD card soundtracks aswell. Good chance I'll be getting this! and again, it's Wii exclusive!!! Edited May 27, 2009 by Retro_Link
STOOPIDDITTIES Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Screens are looking good. Online is all I ask for really considering I never played the first. Glad to see it's a Wii-exclusive too.
Ganepark32 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 The core game was solid on the Wii and so a sequel was to be expected really. However, they'll need to improve considerably on the Balance Board controls as they weren't very good at all.
Retro_Link Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 ^ I thought Balance Board controls were really great and responsive. They certainly put Nintendo's own efforts in Wii Fit to shame!
Tellyn Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I didn't get Shaun White because it never seemed to drop below £39.99 in most retail stores. It's more than reasonable at about £15 now, so I'll grab it at some point.

Coolness Bears Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I love snowboarding games but haven't got one since 1080 avalanche which was great! This game is looking good and an improvement on the previous game which I wasn't so interested in.
Retro_Link Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 E3 Gameplay: Second trial is better 3:00mins in.
STOOPIDDITTIES Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Looks pretty decent. Makes you wonder why there hasn't been a flood of other games made for the balance board considering its massive success.
