flameboy Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Does it work basically? My brother borrowed it years ago and finally gave it back to me. Does it work just curious because of the problems you get with 50hz games on Wii with VC...but does that apply? Will it look janky and shit? I need to order a SCART cable though for it... Been thinking of playing OoT again...what better way to do so than the way its intended in the original form.
Emasher Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 I would think that all the same problems of running other games in 50hz would still be in effect.
S.C.G Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 N64 works fine, just plug the video lead that you would normally use for your Gamecube into the back of your N64 and you're away... it won't solve the 50hz 'problem' afaik because the european VC versions of N64 games are the same as the originals from the same region but yeah, it's certainly better to play them on the original console where possible. : peace:
Cube Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 I've had mine connected to my HDTV (it's only a small one, though) and it looked fine (not fantastic, though) both through the RF and the composite (I used a GameCube cable for that).
flameboy Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 It is a bit stupid...does lead to a more wider spread question...who knows in the future if we will even be able to play such consoles...there may come a time when TV's don't even have the sockets in the back for such things...good thing I've got an old spare CRT tv up in my loft with its built in video recorder... will still need to pick up a scart cable as the wii one obviously doesn't work and i sold my cube due to space constraints (girlfriend) which no longer apply.
Emasher Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 The HDTV I have only has one composite slot on it. So eventually, TVs alone aren't going to be able to work with these consoles. But they'll always make adapters and stuff.
flameboy Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 Well found an old RF lead and tried it on Zelda...it looks okish... Up close things looked ok, so Link looked ok but backgrounds were dodgy as hell...very fuzzy and the occasional blur as Link walked past them, pick up a SCART cable in the hope it makes things that little bit better.
flameboy Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 yeah tried a few other games it does look like arse...will have to pick up a cable theres tons on ebay...
Jimbob Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Scart will make it look better, my Sky box looks good with scart, same as the old DVD player and Wii (much better with Composite now). These Scart cables are cheap as chips these days, you should have no trouble getting one.
Nicktendo Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Will an RGB Scart cable from the gamecube work with an N64 or does it need to be modded to output RGB?
