Iun Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 According to IGN, Majel Barrett Roddenberry, widow of Star Trek creator Gene died at her home yesterday from leukemia. I for one never enjoyed the original series (excepting the 2nd and 6th films), but she was absolutely fabulous as Lwaxana Troi in TNG and to a greater extent in DS9. She also played the computer voice on most episodes of TNG. Downright shame, she was 76 and very much a part of the world of Star Trek.
flameboy Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 What a shocker...big question though, she was set to return to record the computer voice for the new Star Trek film, has that been done?
kyletherobot Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 In other Star Trek related news, I've bought my Dad a Star Trek T-shirt for Christmas.
EEVILMURRAY Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I read about this yesterday, disgraceful. Who may do the computer's voice in the future?! I hope she managed to record some lines for the new movie.
D_prOdigy Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Fortunately, she'd recently completed her job as recording for the computer in the new movie.
Happenstance Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Yeah I heard about this last night, terrible news. Shes played the computer in every series of Star Trek (possibly not Enterprise but she may have been in the last ep) so hopefully theyve got more than enough lines recorded over the years to keep her as the computer for future movies/shows.
