Your alternative top 10 of anything!

Recommended Posts

OK, so we live in an age where, pretty much what ever your into, be it books, games, films or artists, there tends to be a small group that get the lion share of the recognition. From Citizen Kane to the Mona Lisa, Ninteeneightyfour to Ocarina of Time, society seems to have set a list of whats great and you most likly agree with the choices.

However, we have so many great things that seem to take a back seat, now is their time for glory! In that spirit, I'd like to kick things off with my alternative top 10 video games. Whilst not exactly an obscure bunch, few generated the sales, or fame, they deserved.

In no paticular order.

(please note that by "alterniative" I'm refering to things that regualrly get into top ten lists and there's little chance that a friend with a casual interest in the subject will know of them)

1. Jet Force Gemini.

Explore a huge universe and save teddy bears from ants, in the most gory of manners! Collect the heads of the slain! Be a dog with a gun for a tail!

2. Paper Mario

Charming graphics met with great writting and a chance to see how peach keeps busy while held captive. shear awsome!

3. No More Heros

Your Travis Touchdown, a geeky anime, video game and pornography obses loser. So far so you, twist is you use a light saber from eBay to kill the 10 most insanly surral assassins ever!

4. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Forget Metal Gear Solid, if you want a video game that plays out like a movie look no further. Cutscenes are great, and dont take an hour, and are ofeten substituted for conversation during play, making you feel part of the action.

5. Elder Scroles IV: Oblivion

Your free to be who you want. Save the world, or make some money as an assassin, it's all good. The ultimate form of freedom is the freedom to do nothing.

6. Phonix Wright

Lawers are slimy, mean and evil, they make terrible heros. Except this one. Try not to fall in love with the oddballs of his world, or the man himself. Its impossble not to.

7. Turtles in Time

What could be better then playing as a turtle with a friend? Playing as a turtle to the settings of pirates and the prehistoric!

8. Deus Ex

A conspiracy theorist's wet dream. Play how you want, Sneak in with stealth, run in all guns blazing or even set the sentry guns to kill the guards. have it your way!

9. Viewtiful Joe

Fight insanly difficult battles as the most unlikly hero ever. Don't just win fights, make em viewtiful!

10. Skies of Arcadia

Pirates! Flying pirates! Optomistic Flying Pirates! Try to find a more up beat, never give up game, you can't. The cast are great, heros and villans alike, the film has an almost disney quality and its story is so addictive you'l love every second.

At the start this seemed like a great idea but I can't really think of 10 of anything.

Erm.... Yah....

Help me think!

I might make a top ten of my favourite Top Ten lists, but I'm incredibly lazy today, so I've decided to just half formulate this joke and let the punchline take. Yeah.

(it is a cool idea though)

My friends saw them at Connect Festival which I was only allowed to go to on the last day, so I missed them. Do plan on seeing them though.

My top ten numbers from one to ten

10. Seven. Overrated, as being lucky. No such thing? I don't know, but seven is fucking overrated.

9. Four. Its just really bouring. Oh four? Cool. If it was money, then its pretty much the heaviest money you can get (whole number) which is lame and weighs down a wallet.

8. Eight. It sounds alright, but again its a bit boring. Doesn't have many uses, and it sounds a bit like H which can occasionally get confusing on the phone.

7. Ten. Useful number definitely, but its short and ....just bland.

6. Three. Three, the number of threesome, however that would be its only redeeming feature. Still its been redempt enough to become three places higher than it deserves to be.

5. Two. Standard number. "I'll have two please." When one isn't enough.

4. Nine. Almost ten, which is good. Unique sounding. Its just the excitement that nine brings....its almost like a cliffhanger if you hear it, or if added to something it can completely change things.

3. One. Narrowly missing out on the number two spot, the number one is number three, because one is used so often, it would be difficult to live without.

2. Five. How many things come in packs of five? How many bands have five members? How many nipples come in fives? Case firmly rested.

1. Six. Six sounds like sex.

I love so much. Actually true too. Though I'd have Nine as my top one, shifting the rest down.
