dwarf Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Really? Maybe it is just certain games? I would like to give it to a friend but I've got too many people on my download limit thing. So I'll have to ask Mike and Diageo to disable whatever it is you disable so I can do that.
Daft Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 Fat Princess Hands On The word "unique" gets bandied about a lot these days, so it's hard to stay awake when you hear it coming out of a developer's mouth. Especially when you're jetlagged and you've had no lunch and you've already seen seven videogames today, all of them variations on the popular theme of shoot-the-monster-in-the-face. And especially when the word "unique" is followed by the phrase "combination of gameplay elements you've seen over the past ten to 15 years". But it's a lot easier to stay awake when the game the developer is talking about revolves around swapping hats, slaying chickens and eating cake. Right then, Craig Leigh, lead designer at Titan Studios - you've got our attention. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/fat-princess-hands-on Sounds excellent.
dwarf Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Yeah I've made plenty of posts about how good it is! You should get it for the online mode. Brilliant with headsets and people from the forum/friends.
Aimless Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Here's a new Trine trailer: Apparently it's only local co-op, but it still looks like an interesting puzzle-platformer; when playing on your own you morph between the three characters. This interview gives a good idea of what to expect from the game.
Daft Posted April 16, 2009 Author Posted April 16, 2009 Okay, I'm not really a Star Trek fan but this is pretty cool. Star Trek Boldly Goes To PlayStation Home Red shirts and spacey mini-skirts are coming to PlayStation Home, as the upcoming Star Trek, helmed by J.J. Abrams, sets a course for the PlayStation 3 virtual hang out zone. Paramount Pictures and Sony Computer Entertainment announced today that a series of Star Trek movie promotions would be beaming to Home users starting tomorrow. That includes "an exclusive video greeting" from Abrams and the newest Star Trek movie trailer, both hitting Home as of Friday. Also coming to Home are Starfleet uniforms and t-shirts, arriving in the Threads Store on April 23rd. Now, here's where we nerd out. On Monday, April 20th, director J.J. Abrams and movie stars Chris "Kirk" Pine and Zachary "Spock" Quinto will visit Home for a Q&A session with "selected press and bloggers from around the world." That means Kotaku. And that means, if you have a burning question for Abrams, Pine or Quinto, we'll try to ask it on your behalf. And if you have a preference for which of the three you'd like us to start cabbage patching with first, we'll try to honor that too. They'll also be holding a post Q&A "virtual roundtable" within Home. Both events will be streamed live online at the Star Trek PlayStation Home web site. So, think of something extremely clever, cutting and maybe insightful to ask, and we'll see you there on Monday. http://kotaku.com/5215289/star-trek-boldly-goes-to-playstation-home
flameboy Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Okay, I'm not really a Star Trek fan but this is pretty cool. http://kotaku.com/5215289/star-trek-boldly-goes-to-playstation-home damn you beat me to it.
Daft Posted May 9, 2009 Author Posted May 9, 2009 http://kotaku.com/5246940/playstation-home-offers-affordable-housing PlayStation Home Offers Affordable Housing What's more affordable than free, anyway? Beginning Thursday (May 14) you can get some new digs in PlayStation Home if you're tired of the standard-issue harborside apartment. "Chamber Apartment" is free, but only for a week. After that, you can expect to cough up some dough. The new pad features fantasy-inspired architecture, and a courtyard featuring a giant tree with a human face. No word if it talks. Anyone know if this is happening in Europe? I know it is highly unlikely.
flameboy Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Yes. Its free for one week then pay i think. All regions. I brought the new log cabin. Its nice. If anyone wants to do a meeting i am at the Start Trek event tomorrow. Come in Star trek uniform, its free. Yeah I will do, should be around to then I hope...
flameboy Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Star Trek meet up!! What's actually happening? some exclusive movies to sit and watch and exclusive uniforms from the film if you attend.
dwarf Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Who actually gives a crap about the Log Cabin? Apart from you? :p I don't see the point in most of the stuff in Home, I don't care if it looks different or good I want to actually do entertaining stuff instead of looking at things and saying 'that's rad'. I didn't really fully understand Sims either, although I kind of 'get' it more.
Daft Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 I wish they'd just start releasing game themed apartments. I'd love to have an underwater BioShock apartment. Seriously, how hard would it be to actually make these? Sony really are being slow. If they gave me a job I could awesomise Home in no time.
dwarf Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 They made that Resi 5 space. That was pretty cool, but it ended at that. Don't know what the game disc unlocked in that space though.
Daft Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 Yeah, but I mean a proper BioShock apartment as a personal space for your avatar. Underwater. All art deco and dilapidated. Also at that Star Trek thing today was rubbish. They should of had the Enterprise floating above Home square or something. I mean, these things just are not hard to do; there's no imagination at all.
flameboy Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 The star trek event was naff...why couldn't they have transformed the central part into something star trek esque how about if the huge drill from the film was ploughing down into the ground? Or the Enterprise flying past in the night sky? Just little touches that would have given it a sense of wow.
Aimless Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Critter Crunch has been announced for a PSN release via the PlayStation.Blog; there's apparently an iPhone version out already. It looks like a decent enough puzzle game, but the real reason I'm mentioning it is because it demonstrates why more people should put out 2D games with 1080p artwork.
Daft Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 Ha!! That looks so weird and awesome! Technicolour vomit? SOLD!
dwarf Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Yeah rainbow puke is a hit with me. So are the cute and wacky creatures. Not the game though.
Aimless Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Just saw this and thought I might as well pass it along. It's called Shatter, a block busting game that literally puts a spin on things in some of the levels. It might as well be called Arkanoid: Retro Evolved, but it looks decent enough and... well, it's pretty hard to make a bad block busting game.
dwarf Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 When I saw the video I was disappointed because when I first read your post I thought you said it was a blockbuster lol. Oh well, looks okay I suppose.
