Cookyman Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 And in that last image of Cooky's is anyone else reminded of a wide document folder? Wow your right it does!
Emasher Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 So I'm thinking now, I'll get Infamous, Fat Princess, and Battlefield 1943 when I get the console. Fallout 3: GotY Edition when that comes out, and Little Big Planet (Probably GotY Edition), and MGS4 after Christmas. I guess MAG will be out around then too.
Rowan Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 £249.99 confirmed for September 1st in the UK on Official Playstation homepage

A fine selection, but may I add Modern Warfare 2 and/or Killzone 2? I know you have the online FPS covered with Battlefield 1943 (a very good game), but MW2 for the awesomely addictive multiplayer, and KZ2 for the stunning visuals.
Gizmo Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Actually, I'm wondering if it would maybe be better to get a fat PS3 instead. I don't particularly mind about either design, and if the feature list is the same other than the (replaceable) HDD size I'd probably get a better deal on an older one. Maybe some people will be trading in their launch 60gbs with backwards compatibility so I can play Ico and SoTC. (never had a PS2 )
The Lillster Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I was hoping the slim would have BC PS2 support, oh well.
Aimless Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Oh, turns out Dead Nation is indeed Housemarque's next game, but it certainly doesn't look like a PSP title to me Tanja from Eurogamer! Joystiq have the trailer, and it's yet another bloody top-down zombie game; that's the third for PSN. Still, Stardust HD was great so I won't discount it just yet. No idea on whether there will be co-op or not, but it would seem there's a 'passively multiplayer' element, a bit like Noby Noby Boy, whereby people playing in different countries work together to stop the infection spreading across the globe.
The Lillster Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Just wandering, are there any kind of bullet-hell vertical shooters on PS3?
Diageo Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I for one think the PS3 slim is horrendously ugly. Where the PS3 right now is passable.
Daft Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Had they kept the same design/look of the current PS3 and just made it smaller I would seriously have considered buying (another) one. I love how the PS3 looks. It is the sexiest thing that has ever sat under my TV. That looks awesome. I might pass it up if there is no co-op though.

I'll probably buy Killzone 2 at some point, but I think I'll wait to get MW2 until the price is more reasonable. I might see if I can get a used copy if the first one though. Thanks.
canand Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 the PS3 Slim Note: This product is not compatible with PlayStation 2 games

Speaking of which, wasn't there some kind of additional content in the PS3 version of Bioshock? What was it, and is it worth buying a cheap copy for it?
Caris Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Wow the new PS3 looks amazing, I actually think it might be the best looking console ever made. The front view looks stunning. Defiantly going to sell my PS3 for this.
Emasher Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 There are a few others I'll buy if I see them cheap. Bioshock is near the top of that list.
Gizmo Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 No, thats not what I said. I said Bioshock is a must Personally I think I'll go with the big 3 first: LBP, MGS4 and Uncharted. Infamous I'll leave for a little since its comparitively new (plus I only just played Prototype, so I've had my fill of sandbox games for now). GT5:P I'll give a miss and wait for the full game. Killzone and Resistance I'll get soon after I'm done with Uncharted and MGS4.
Jon Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I like the finish for one reason. No more sodding dust. The current PS3 is such a whore for picking up dust.

What was it, and is it worth buying a cheap copy for it? I never got around to the DLC myself, but here's the Eurogamer review. Here's some more natural photos of the Slim shot in the the US OPM offices. I think it actually looks a lot nicer in the real world as opposed to a product shot.
Daft Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Don't bother with the BioShock DLC. It is a waste of money.
Emasher Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Here's some more natural photos of the Slim shot in the the US OPM offices. I think it actually looks a lot nicer in the real world as opposed to a product shot. After looking at those, I think the slim will look much better on my desk than the original one would have. Now, if they would just confirm or deny that the slim still has a user upgradable HDD... Anyway, Amazon has started pre-orders now, and most stores have realized that the 80GB PS3 should be sold for $299, and the 160GB $399.
Hero-of-Time Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Looks fantastic, very sleek. Now I just need to see which retailer has the best bundle so I can throw my money at them come 1st September.
Aimless Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 You can upgrade the HDD, they just moved the tray. It's on the front-right now instead of the side. (CNet, seventh paragraph.)
