Slaggis Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Can anyone recommend a laptop to me that costs no more than £600 but is good enough for college work, a few games and probably some video/photo editing?
McPhee Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 This looks like a pretty ace deal: http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Asus_A8JR_Laptop_A8JR-4P072C/version.asp If i had a spare £550 i'd be placing an order on it right now :p
Charlie Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 I got an immense one from Laptops Direct for £500. http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5613AWLMi_with_Carry_Case_and_Optical_Mouse_BUN-LX.AY50X.062-286/version.asp It's gone up in price now. And I've just realised it's meant to have a Core 2 Duo, which it doesn't. Complaint + refund time.
Slaggis Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 Thanks McPhee/Moria! I've increased the budget to £700. Will that make a big difference?
Sheikah Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Thanks McPhee/Moria! I've increased the budget to £700. Will that make a big difference? Well if you're willing to pay 50 quid more than that (750) you could get this beast of a laptop from MESH (link). I got my PC from MESH and they're honestly very good, with great value for money.

Slaggis Posted September 7, 2007 Author Posted September 7, 2007 I'm going to go with a del *shock horror* Only because My dad has one already (had it for 3 years, no trouble) and it's pretty good. It's a dell vostro 256MB nVidia® GeForce® 8600M GT Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 Processor (2.0GHz,800MHz,4MB L2 cache) 2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM Thanks for the help anyway, that one you chose stefkov was really tempting.
Slaggis Posted September 7, 2007 Author Posted September 7, 2007 Detailz plz. Go to dell.co.uk The click on notebooks, but instead of "home" click "small buisness". Then you have the Vostro laptop for a really pretty amazing price. It's also got some good reviews. It's perfectly alright to buy on for home use from the buisness side too (I emailed dell). I spent £697 on everything, inlcuding vista ultimate. I pretty pleased with my self. :p
Shorty Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 If you want to save a bit more and go under £500, I just recently picked this out for my g/f http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-6139.aspx (ah damn, it's out of stock, well you could try instore or wait until its instock) It's a great laptop for £478 15.4" Widescreen Core 2 Duo 2GB RAM 120GB SATA HDD Vista Home Premium ATi graphics (of some kind)

I just bought the Vistro one though. I needed a better graphics card.
Shorty Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 I didn't really look, I just mentioned the one my gf got :P but yw anyway. Still I do reccomend it in case anyone else comes here looking for a similar thing. However if you were after a serious graphics card my suggestion wasn't ideal for you anyway. Hope the Vistro one is good
