Ant-Shimmin Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Stemming from the Daft Punk/Kanye West thread, A Few good points where raised over the Rap Culture gripping our streets. Heres my take on it, some of the music is good, I like SOME of Snoop Doggs work, Kanye West's early stuff was really good, can't say I'm a fan of his new song. 50Cent, Eminem, G-Unit etc etc etc are just really souless. Anyway as for the Culture, in a recent study it shows that young black men idoloise rappers who glamorize guns. Is there anywonder why we have these shooting in London because they want to be like their favourite star in Fiddy Cent.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6938012.stm
Guest Jordan Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 People who want to be in gangs, are fucking idiots. This isn't America, theres no need for gun crime, but thanks to alot of influences we have problems in society we have it.
Paj! Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 ^^ lol Why not actually elaborate? I thought you agreed about this? About like "bad" rap being influencial and stuff.. --- I've never found rap very interesting (both mainstream and the stuff considered good). I think it's a bad influence only when Asshats like 50 Cent get into it.
Bluejay Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 . Anyway as for the Culture, in a recent study it shows that young black men idoloise rappers who glamorize guns. What. Statistics could prove anything. A stat can be created to slant to whatever angle is needed at the time.
Owario Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I think there are bad influences in all genres of music, but because rap is quite popular with kids these days it's being singled out. Personally I don't find rap very appealing, unless you count RatM.

Do not speak of what you do not comprehend/understand. You have just named 4 mainstream artists and that really says it all. Dont speak on something you have no knowledge of bar music channels of the last 3 years or so.
Ant-Shimmin Posted August 9, 2007 Author Posted August 9, 2007 Hobbz if you refer to me as a child once more I will hunt you down in your Job at McDonalds and probably ask you for a Big Mac... Anyway It wasn't stereotyping I was just simply repeating what I had in the article?
mcj metroid Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 .. Well we don't have much black people... It isn't a problem here anyway. If anything dance music is worse.people getting bottled in discos and so but which again is obviously not caused by music. I never believe this stuff just people who buy manhunt are not blood thirsty maniacs. People who watch horror movies. same story.
Ant-Shimmin Posted August 9, 2007 Author Posted August 9, 2007 Hmmmm yes, that is a funny joke. and Bollocks, it is obvious of your ignorance and lack of knowledge on the genre, not just from this thread. Dont act like a kid and you wont get named one. You made this thread to cause some controversy I didn't make this thread to cause controversy at all? I seen the argument in your thread, remembered the news I watched in the morning and seen the argument in the thread and posted what I heard on BBC Breakfast before I went to work. It's not ignorance it's provent hey went around asking young black men as came back that alot of young black men have these rappers as their idols. You don't have to go search on youtube and search video comps people have made with a rap background rapped by 2pac or something chatting on about guns and ho's etc etc etc. I'm not streotyping, I just posted what I read and posted what I thought. I mean look at your signature? Correct me if I'm wrong but is that from a rap, it insites violence as does alot of rap songs, the fact of the matter is the majority of the Rappers that are around wether they are good or not re heard by the majority of youths wanting to be them... I mean look at some of the clobber these gangs wear in London Handkerchiefs around the neck, they didn't get that from their favoruite Football player did they?
Ramar Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Is there anywonder why we have these shooting in London because they want to be like their favourite star in Fiddy Cent.. Whoa whoa whoa... Its not just done south, and in London where these gun crimes take place. Jesus, whats with all this anti-south or anti-London bullshit. As for gun crime amongst some black youths, its clear that there is some link, but whether you can pin it on music is a tough point to argue. So I'll stay out of it.
Ant-Shimmin Posted August 9, 2007 Author Posted August 9, 2007 Your retarded simple and plain. How the hell does this line incite violence - In case you dont remember me I'll run your brain around the block and jog ya fuckin memory It is called a PUNCHLINE!!! Its a clever pun, that demonstrates skill to be able to flip words and give them double meanings. Nothing to do with violence you misguided little fool. Please dont talk about an artist you know nothing about either, in regards to your silly Tupac statement. You have no proper understanding or idea of the mans musical legacy, life or impact. Bleh, Its not even worth talking to you, your not on my level when it comes to discussing this. Ill make a point to the ignorant idiots around here, when I make my thread. Just find it funny how you people cry and cause mass hysteria when people blame computer games for violence, then have the nerve to pinpoint a music genre you know nothing about and judge a whole race ignorantly to violence thru rap. I mean FUCK OFF You really are a condescending prat aren't you... Anyway I wasn't saying Rap was the sole cause for Murders and what not, my point is how these rappers are proving a negative influence on young black men and how they live their lives. I mean look at the way they dress, look at the way they act it just reminds me of something from a 2pac video, Don't get me wrong I think he was great at what he did but at the end of the day you have these gangs going around ll over the place acting like their favourite rap star sometimes taking lives and what not. Long Statement cut short, SOME rappers have negative effects on youths, and you cannot deny this.... I'm not pin-pointing it on music or any specific thing I am pin pointing it on these rappers rapping about being shot 9 times and what not and gloryfyinng (Sp) guns.... And it isn't anti south or anything it's just this report I watched highlighted London very much... The rate of Gun Related murders is outstanding....Not in the good way either
Goron_3 Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 What a dumb thread, I swear Hobbzinio is the only smart one who's posted here and made a good point. Ant, you're just being completely ignorant here. Shut up and just leave the thread, because you clearly have NO idea what you're talking about. Oh, and the mcdonalds joke wasn't really that funny...at all.

Ant, you're just being completely ignorant here. Shut up and just leave the thread, because you clearly have NO idea what you're talking about. Oh, and the mcdonalds joke wasn't really that funny...at all. So your saying Rappers don't have a negative affect on some of the youngsters today? Yeah Okay...
mcj metroid Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 What a dumb thread, I swear Hobbzinio is the only smart one who's posted here and made a good point. Ant, you're just being completely ignorant here. Shut up and just leave the thread, because you clearly have NO idea what you're talking about. Oxigen_Waste Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I mean look at some of the clobber these gangs wear in London Handkerchiefs around the neck, they didn't get that from their favoruite Football player did they? Actually, that's hardcore culture, you ignorant ****. Long Statement cut short, SOME rappers have negative effects on youths, and you cannot deny this.... And what musical style doesn't have some artists like that, might I ask? Hey, Shimmin, you're probably the most irritating poster in the whole forum. I mean, every single word that comes out of your mouth is covered in prejudice, boy. Grow up, will you?
Goron_3 Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Some rappers do have a negative effect on youth; you can't really deny that, although tbh it's mainly because the people it affects have like 0 brain cells anyway. However, dissing rap when you're referring to mainstream artists like Nelly, 50 Cent and eminem ain't rap. Infact, I bet half the people here haven't even heard real rap music (Gang Starr for example).
Portlett Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Yeh you can't just label 50 cent and eminem as rap when these are just the mainstream bollocks that the industry markets. Listen to some Dilated peoples, roots, roots manuva, J5, beasties etc. These are good hip-hop artists. And kids are going to get influences wherever, have you stopped to think that some hip-hop might actually give some kids inspiration to do good in their lives rather than act violently, the media isnt going to pick up on this however.
Bluejay Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Rap is not what is wrong with youth culture, this thread is. Actually, that's hardcore culture, you ignorant ****. This bit was great though.
Guest Jordan Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Alright, i've had enough of this constant god damn flaming. I'm locking this thread, sorry but if it would have gone on any longer it'd have been a temp ban for most of the people posting here. Theres a difference between expressing what you think and insulting someone and obviously a few people in this thread need cool the fuck down abit. [locked]
