Dan_Dare Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 oh my god I love Kick-Ass how many issues is this planned for? I want to enshrine it in hardback. It's absolutely fucking marvelous. also: movie Images!
Happenstance Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Well I went and got the Marvels trade today and picked up Blackest Night #0 from free comic book day. Also checked Waterstones and my comic shop for Wolf-Man 2 but neither had it
Tellyn Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Grabbed 11 comics from free comic day, though I've only read Blackest Night 0, which was great. Just one thing though. Batman's dead? Also got the last copy of Astounding Wolf-Man vol. 2, and issues 13, 14 and 15. I haven't had chance to read the single issues yet, but again I very much enjoyed it, love the art style.
Happenstance Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 My local comic shop only allows one free comic per customer as they got pissed off last year when people would only turn up once a year and grab the comics. Plus I never realised that the comic shops still have to buy those free ones.

It was on the bbc news, serisouly didn't know? humph. He's not actually dead, but he might aswell be
ReZourceman Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Yeah he's not dead, hes in another time and place. He'll back one day.
Happenstance Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I would moan that hes gone but to be honest everytime I try to read a batman comic I lose interest pretty quickly. Anyone ever buy Wizard? I always mean to but forget.
Paj! Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I buy Wizard when I'm in the US. Which means...7/8 times in my life. It's a good read.
Happenstance Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Ive only actually got it once and that was when for some reason it was sent to me for free with a comic delivery. Was a nice suprise.
DomJcg Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Well, it begins, the end of all ends. From the looks of things, batmans coming back or atleast an ... interesting version of batman. Aquaman, sue dibney (who i am very suprised is gonna come back...defiled as a human, and now as a corpse?) someone i didn't recognise and earth 2 superman. I really loved the oath of the black ring. Things are heating up Comic events in general nowadays, i swear, it's simply because writers think thats what we want, its big and its blockbustery etc. But they spend 3 months telling the story and the next 9 dealing with the aftermarth, only in time for the next one to come along. It annoys me to no end.
Happenstance Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I do still quite enjoy the big events like Civil War and even though it was done a bit slowly, House Of M. Didnt really like Secret War though and I cant comment on DC events as I dont read it.
gmac Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 my purchases over the last week would have had Walking Dead book 2 but they didn't have that at my local shop

Happenstance Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Marvels TPB I really loved this book, it was a brilliant look through some of the most important moments in the Marvel history through the eyes of a normal photographer. I loved seeing these moments again and instead of having it fixate on the superheroes, seeing what the rest of the public was thinking. One of my favourite parts would probably be the sections on the X-Men and mutants in general, showing a bit more of the hysteria that was going around and how even Phil Sheldon (the photographer) got caught up in it himself after seeing the X-Men for the first time. Even though I can recognise the brilliance of Alex Ross' art im usually not the biggest fan of it, its just not really my style but I thought that it worked absolutely perfectly in this more "real world" setting. When you are focusing more on the public than the heroes I think it helps. My only complaint would be the way he draws Spider-Man, a bit too cumbersome (sp?) I think. I need to gets me some more trades, its been a while since I bought a new one that id never read before and it was a really good read.

Paj! Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Ha! That has the "Wank!" panel on it! Where'd you get that?
Dan_Dare Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Just a little shop in Sheffield. The label is called 'Stars & Stripes' though, if you're after one
Happenstance Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I didnt realise so many DC characters were actually dead until I read Blackest Night #0, shows how much I pay attention that that universe lately
Mundi Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 They have been dropping like flies recently, not that it matter they always come back. Heard recently that up until now Batman was the only person from the "main" Justice League team who had not died and come back
Dan_Dare Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Me and Shorty both went to Forbidden Planet in Sheffield yesterday. Neither of us realised it was Free Comic Day fucking phail.
gmac Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 quick question are any of the Marvel: Civil War books any good?
