ReZourceman Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 *cringe* You can tell it'll be shit. I'd think that Spider-Man one that'd been in production for like a zillion years would be less awkward. I'd rather just go and see Wicked. Its not a musical. Its like Walking With Dinosaurs, but with Batman and Robin and villains and co. I.e. totally fucking badass. IN OTHER NEWS Marvel/Disney/ABC announced a third Marvel live-action-tv-show-is-in-development.
Paj! Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 OH. Oh right. Lal. I assumed it'd be a musical. Potentially worse an experience than Batman and Robin. :p Oh then this sound great. And really random.
ReZourceman Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 The Astounding Wolf-Man #25 Finale Issue Is solicited for next week. I will of course, believe it when I see it, but this is good news. I think.
Happenstance Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 The scheduling for that has just been so crap that I dont particularly care anymore and I couldnt tell you at all what happened in the previous issue.
ReZourceman Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 This makes me sad, its been an amazing series IMHO. And I'm not just biased because I have some of the gorgeous artwork. Hulks face. Avengers needs a new artist so they can do alternating arcs or something. This is just dreadful, and ruining what could be a pretty cool arc. Don't see why I should have to pay a premium price for sub par artwork.
ReZourceman Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I like it apart from the face. The point remains though cos' the rest of his Avengers work has been so shit. ----------- Invincible 76 panel from Ryans twitter.
Paj! Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 That face looks fine and in place within the context of his art. I do think his peak was his Spider-Man stuff (particularly with JMS), but then inking can make or brake many an artist. It could be a different inker. JRJR is such a strange one - I both really like it, and am indifferent to it at the same time.
ReZourceman Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Ah, Dan Slott it was all going so well. Everything I hate about Marvel;
Daft Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I picked up Batman Beyond #5 today. I hope it picks up a bit after the last two issues which were kind of not amazing.
Dan_Dare Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Awesome cover art, regardless. I'm watching batman beyond atm. Great series!
chairdriver Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) Well I was bored of both titles in any case. Wonder Woman was more interesting, but still "...". EDIT: lol this is Paj. Yes, we're the same person on two accounts. Edited November 11, 2010 by chairdriver
ReZourceman Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 WHO'S LOOKING FORWARD TO/ALREADY READ SPIDER-MAN? I'm going down to the shop in a minute. Theres a few titles that I've been missing, I predict I'll get none today. - Skull Kickers - Morning Glories - Guarding the Globe - Superior
Happenstance Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I decided to give Spider-man a quick read, didnt like the art and I wasnt going to pick it up anyway so no change there
ReZourceman Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 didnt like the art Seriously you're crazy. Just started reading and that first double spread is just gorgeous!
ReZourceman Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I finished it! That was fucking awesome as hell! - Cool job/colleagues - Sinister Six! - Venom! - Hobgoblin! (original!) - New metal?! Reverbium! - Metal spider dude! Sheer awesomeness.
Dan_Dare Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Yeah man that was awesome. Really, really strong start. This is probably the best status quo in Spider-Man in years and yet before it's even begun we got that stupid 'Death of Spider-Man' promo that I can only guess is going to break most of the awesome ideas in this set up. Fuck that.
ReZourceman Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 It was massive too. 39 pages of main story. I'd go as far as to say it was one of my favourite single issues of Spider-Man ever. It was like a self contained mini epic story, along with several teasers and establishing new status quo. It was brilliant.
Dan_Dare Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Yeah man. This is always what I wanted for Peter Parker. BND was retrogressive in that it stripped Parker of his genuinely adult life- no public identity, no marriage, no Avengers status, no profile. He returned to being a juvenile while Spider-Man was returned to being a 'menace' and had no status in the super human community. This changes all that again- he's in a job that actually fits his character, he's back in The Avengers (as a leader, too!) shoulder to shoulder with Tony Stark and Reed Richards and with all the gadgets and money coming his way, Spider-Man is back to the big leagues he touched on with the Iron Spider suit too. Yes!
gmac Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I concur with the Big Time love, awesome start, lets hope they keep the bar this high for the following issues!
Happenstance Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Nearly ordered the Amazing Spider-Man JMS Ultimate Collection Book 5 today (may still do knowing me), its a shame the end of it obviously has One More Day ruining it but overall I really did enjoy JMSs run on Spider-Man. Along with Ultimate Spider-man it was one of the comics that got me back into single issues all those years ago. Amazingly though I think I started with Sins Past so im suprised I carried on!
