Munch Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 I have The Walking Dead book 1 and Invincible book 1 on their way to me, rejoyce Robert Kirkman, I'm helping to make you a rich man! Also I found this for X-Men continuity, but I doubt you guys will need it :P http://howtoreadxmen.blogspot.com/
Dan_Dare Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 if you're actually buying, I'd save your cash. Singles are a massive rip off. It's been wicked so far but I'd wait.
ReZourceman Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Did anyone read Astonishing Spider-Man and Wolverine #2....I quite like it. Its a bit strange, but I did love the Phoenix Gun. And obviously the art is amazing. (According to Image's website Invincible is out on 25th August, not next week)
Paj! Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I didn't even know issue 2 was out. I read issue 1 and thought it was pretty good. The art obviously is great. I'm a fan of the Astonishing titles, the X-Men comics I look foward most to every month are Astonishing X-Men (which is always delayed from what I've heard) and Astonishing X-Men: Xenogenesis.
Happenstance Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Just bought: Ive heard the series was pretty poor but I still wanna get them to go with the rest of my main DC history trades. Plus I do like these kind of books that introduce me more to characters I dont know that well, like 52 did.
Munch Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Where can I get DC stuff that isn't titan books? Do want moar Green Lantern!
Happenstance Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Titan books are just the DC versions with a new barcode slapped on the back.
Munch Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Yeah and the spine has Titan Books on it instead of the awesome DC logo, it's like getting Panini instead of Marvel, so damn annoying!
Happenstance Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Not one of my DC trades with a titan sticker on the back have Titan Books on the spine. Litterally the only difference was that they'd stuck their own barcode and price on the back. Weird.
Paj! Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Few of mine has Titan on it, and it does make it look less stunning. *goes to check* All-Star Batman, We3, Peter David's Supergirl etc. Though Supergirl feels classier having the titan sign, cause they've put it in the same font as the rest of the cover design, and it fits nicely.
Happenstance Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Looks like ive been lucky then. I went back through my amazon buys and quite a few are Titan books and not one has Titan on the spine (apart from Teen Titans :p ) If you go to http://forbiddenplanet.com/ they actually specify if its Titan or DC and have both occassionally. Its gonna be harder though with Titan being the UK publisher for DCs books so you have to find sites that import instead of waiting for UK release if you dont want to take the risk.
ReZourceman Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Just checked all my Teen Titans TPBs and they also say both DC and Titan on the spine. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLL
gmac Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 hmm the only ones I have that have Titan on the spine are Batman: Year One and Dark Knight Returns, all my Green Lantern trades have DC Comics on them and they've been bought from all different sites/shops (Waterstones, Amazon, Forbidden Planet)
Munch Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Hmmm, maybe it's just the graphic novel type ones that are like it then, because my Green Lantern ones I got off ebay and they have DC but Arkham Asylum and Red Son from Amazon and WH Smiths don't have it. I just assumed the guy I bought them off from ebay had got them as imports or something :\
Happenstance Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Im really starting to run out of room for all my trades and I dont have enough room to buy a new bookcase. Dont really want to just start piling them up.
Happenstance Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Pics or didn't happen. Its actually only two selves on my bookcase but those are the only two shelves big enough to fit graphic novels on and all the others are full of books and dvds anyway.
Dan_Dare Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 My bookshelf is a comedy of errors. I'm in need of a drastic reorganisation of my room, really.
ReZourceman Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Oooooh nice. I've never heard of the writer though. Which is strange, considering when Astonishing Spidey/Wolvie was announced they said the Astonishing banner would be for supreme/A+++ creative teams. Hmmm.
Happenstance Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I think ive only read his Rogue stuff: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Rodi#Comics
Paj! Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I'll read that. As I mentioned, I'm loving the Astonishing concept. There's like 5 books a months about Thor and I can't bear the thought of trying to understand what's going on (as I'm not THAT interested). I just love concise things these days, things that are whole. I can't look at so many mutants in one place in normal X-Men, Astonishing gives me sweet release. Though I question why Armour is a team member there but kinda ignored in the main comics.
