Posted August 1, 2007 Computer i use now is about 4 years old, System Specs are failing most things. I guess this has a month left to live so when i get new comp we have £700-£1000 to spend on a new one so i just wondering if anyone knows where to buy good computers. If i look at my computers specs written at front it says: 2800+ (2.08Ghz) AMD athlon-XP 512MB DDR 80GB Hard drive DVD DRIVE CD writer 48x ATI Radeon 9200 128mb video memory Thats the basic what says on front , see that seems old to me when i tried running ps2 games on my computer all this your card doesn't have pixel shader 2, So any one know what type of computer , where to get it from range of £700 - £1000. something that is good for all things today , games , internet , anything , which makes it faster for future things. Posted August 1, 2007 Then something's wrong there, PC World aren't that cheap. thats what i thought, but when i looked at them build your own pc they wanted alot i made on just to see , came out at £1455 when i looked at pc world half of the stuff i'd put in was in the pc's for £800 e.g i put duo Processor , PC world one was a Quad processor If i think to it , A pc with great graphics , Awsome clock speed , Won't slow down my internet, has options to plug in xbox and other consoles into it and has Media Centre Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Posted August 2, 2007 Search for my post on "Post my purchase" forum. Blistering PC (Duo core E6600, 8600GTS nvidia, 500gb HD, 2GB ram, a very handy card reader with built in bluetooth *perfect for my phone snaps*) ~600 pounds with 20" monitor and a MX rev logitech mouse. I may go for the 8800, but it depends on the price/power balance, and I don't really know how to overclock stuff, which could be handy. I've heard that the 8800GTS can be overclocked massively. I was away to buy 2 just to be greedy :p Oh, and Jim take a look at BuildYourOwn.org.uk Very helpful bunch, will probably recommend something down the lines of: Motherboard: Asus P5K (Either the basic P5K or SLi version if you think you will use it) CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6750 GPU: Sapphire Radeon x1950XT RAM: 2GB Geil PC-6400 800MHz (4-4-4-12 timings) HDD: Samsung Spinpoint (whatever size) DVD: NEC/Optiarc DVD-RW 20x SATA or 18x Labelflash IDE (depends if you want faster burning or label printing) Case: Antec Sonata III (inc 500W Antec Earthwatts PSU) For computers the adage goes "build em cheap, build em often!". Use last years tech if you can, it's usually better value. You can build a reasonable gaming PC off the price of a 8800Ultra alone! A Quad would blaze the E6850 on rendering and video compression, while for purely gaming, then yes, the E6850 is much better. I would be getting the E6850 though if I didn't have a need for the quad, as it does look damn good overall and at a really good price when you consider the E6600's were around the same amount not long ago.
