DCK Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Does anyone actually have a graph of ps2 against ps3 sales? From what I can get from magazines, PS2 (without competition) showed a slightly faster growth than the Wii has now. The Wii <> PS3 gap is a good indication of the amount of sales Sony went back.
Owen Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Why are all the Sony fanboys coming in here to defend PS3? I'm no fanboy, end-of. Unlike some i have the ability to say that the PS3 sales will pick up. Which they will. How can't they? With MGS4, Drakes, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Singstar? I didn't say....PS3 will overtake Wii in sales. So don't panic people! Personally i love all 3 consoles, however i do agree that the wii should be winning the console war due to the innovation of it!
Jasper Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I ain't no Sony-fanboy either (never owned a PlayStation) but I'm annoyed by the fact that the Nintendo-fanboys seem to walk over Sony as if they have already won the battle. And that's just not true. If Nintendo can keep the pace up, -yes-, they will turn out victorious. But right now, let's keep it real and Sony in account.
Caris Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Thanks you guys, i'm not saying "gooooo sonnnyyy" i ust like a none biast(sp) debate.
Zechs Merquise Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 The ps3 won't be 400 pound for ever! You can barely get one at this price anymore thanks to in store price drops. When it's cheaper people will buy the console. The PS3 won't be 400 quid forever, and when it drops so will the 360 and Wii, and the difference will still be there. That's what counts. Whne you can get a next gen system for 175 or one for 400 it's a simple choice. As it is when the PS3 goes down to 300 and the Wii drops to 125! That doesn't even count in the 360 drops which will hit Sony HARD! Whereas Microsoft can burn money SONY are financially VERY tight at the mo, with the PS2 being one of the few major profit making ventures it's had lately. Sony announced a 'constant price strategy' for both the PSP and PS3 some time ago, and since they are still reported to make losses on every PS3 sold, it's not going to go down soon. Even if the price goes down, it will still cost an awful lot of money. Add to that that Microsoft has a rather aggressive pricing strategy and that Nintendo has a big margin on the Wii, I don't see much potential in Sony's pricing strategy. Anyway, I said at this price. I'm sure it'd sell more if it was cheaper. I know it's hard to get Caris, but consoles don't sell just because they're awesome. PS3 is turning out into a fine piece of entertainment, but it just isn't enough. Exactly, Sony can't afford the price drop. Consoles don;t sell because a few people go 'Woo' over Blu0ray and pretty graphics. The Wii is selling because it attracts non-gamers into gaming. I know people I work with in their 40s who have never even bothered with games and own a Wii. PS3 does nothing to attract new people into gaming and is doing little for developers who want to make large profits so why will it sell? High cost, high development costs, it's not a winner. And I bet if you ask most people what Blu-ray is on the street they wouldn't have a clue!
Caris Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Zechs Merquise you are a total idiot, Sony tight with money? your kidding right? you do know there the leading company in video recording equipment, handycams are some of the best around. They are also in the music and picture business which there doing fine in there. List could go on and on, stop saying stuff only you want to hear.

Agreed with the sony/money part, also if it was JUST the price that mattered then how come the gamecube didn't sell wonderfully? Its also software and a whole amount of other things, like with the Wii at the moment, its attracting non-gamers. (everything I said there probably made no sense lol)
Tellyn Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 This argument has split into so many different parts I'm not sure what to respond to. But Caris you can't come in here to defend the PS3 when the Wii gets stick from you and others in the other consoles board. You even said yourself that the biggest selling point of the console is Bluray, not the actual games...
Hero-of-Time Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Right Im closing this thread as its turning into Everyone V Caris, Wii Vs PS3 and we all went off the main topic a long time ago. Best to end things before things get ugly.
