EDGE magazine?

Recommended Posts

Only games magazine worth buying nowadays (unless GamesTM is still going), but McMad is right, due out on the 15th this month, and the same the month after.

If you've got the Edge year planner, then they've actually marked the dates on there for you.

Yeah, those are the only two truly great games mags, and maybe retro gamer...Games TM is the best as far as I'm concerned.

Damn right!

just got the latest ish today, HUGE Metroid 20th anniversary feature/preview of MP3.

Plus their reviews are always pretty spot on. AND 50p cheaper than edge :heh:

It's a full pound cheaper than EDGE last time I checked...

The only thing I didn't like about the latest issue is the huuuuuge Amiga 500 features in the Retro section...I mean...have something for the younger readers!! But I'm thankful I went and got a subscription...even though it only takes me a few hours to read cover to cover lol...

Still got the first ever issue with a pic of Sam fisher on it :D.

It wasn't actually in the shop near me when i went over today. If you don't have an answer to my question then there really is no need for you to post here (this is aimed at you motion2000!)

Nownow, be nice to Motion - we need him to help up the pages on the Zelda-thread with nonsense, so he's free to do the same here.

And NGamer is a true Nintendo-gaming-revelations after NGC Magazine, wich dropped in quality and wasn't really that interesting anymore. At least N-Gamer looks like a games magazine and not daddy's Economy-Monthly. If that even exists.

I like the fact that Edge has a rather, erm, 'high-brow' look and feel, but you're right, other magazines should not try to pull it off. Take ONM, for example, with their 'minimalist' pages and 'arty' covers, and that joke of a magazine they call GamesTM. Absolute tripe and the fact that they attempt to put themselves in the same bracket as Edge offends me. At least NGamer have had the bollocks to take themselves down their own route, with their own unique image, and have avoided the embarrasment of trying to be 'more like Edge' and making complete and utter fools of themselves in the process.

exactly. I mailed NGamer congratulating them, saying that NGamer was like a real lfie, first it was a baby with the look resembling that, a Kid and that it became NGC Magazine (the first edition). After that it evolved into an adult magazine with the layout resembling that stylish, flat look. After that they got a mid-life crisis (the cheap-ass last issues, maintaining the adult-look but still trying to implement things of their youths). Then they died and were reborn in a teenage-style magazine. nothing to official, just a nice mag giving you content and loads of images. And humor that makes no sense at all. Love 'em.

Edge is worth the money, because they actually earn their keep by providing the best writing, opinions and articles on the market- print or otherwise. I read Eurogamer and Joystiq for news, Edge for comment.

It's like a newspaper: nobody buys them to find stuff out anymore, they buy them for what they have to say on what you already know.

I find N-Revolution the biggest waste of paper I've ever read.

The thing I like about GamesTM is the amount of content.

EDGE is excellent though and their reviews are very trustworthy if a bit presumptious and up their own arse at times.

The thing with Edge is it doesn't waste pages telling you what happens in the game, it gets to the point, talks about the things a gamer should care about and then tells you it a game is worth your money or not.

5/10 is average in Edge, not 7/10 as so many see it nowadays.
