Yes, very much so. Although theres going to be some added functionality. So hopefully, it will be a worthy successor to XP. Which to be honest has been the best OS MS have ever got out, if you don't include open ports, spy/adware problems, viruses etc.

You know, there was a cool feature in the last build. If you pressed the windows key and tab, all the windows went side on so you could select them. Bloody nice it looked.

Yeah I agree with you on that. Windows ME was just a complete mess, while Windows 2000 was very much up there with the current XP in my regards, but it's not the best OS to run daily programs which either the family wants to use or if you're a gaming savvy.

The spy/adware, virus problems are to be expected aswell with any popular OS, and I just think that it's unavoidable to prevent and impossible to some extent for Microsoft to get it under control.

I'm in no rush to change my current OS to Vista, and it's also been confirmed that SP3 for XP is due out around the time of Vista's launch.

The only thing holding me back from purchasing a Mac is Alias' dodgy Maya build for it, aswell as Adobe not supporting Premiere on the OS anymore (although there is FinalCut available).

So in other words, I'm currently more than happy to continue using Windows.

So just like Expose on OS X then?

You stole my words!

-------

What's the betting that the "sidebar" will become a "topbar" by Beta 2 and then in Beta 3 the taskbar will automatically be on autohide :heh:

Do the windows become non-transparent when you click on them? I don't like it how you can see through them like that, they looked like they aren't clicked on. Go on M$, just give them the goold ol' brushed metal!

Yeah, the windows don't look complete with it on transparent. You won't be seeing any transparent windows on any of my computers, in fact, you won't even be seeing Vista on any of my computers

That sidebar looks kinda ugly to me, it would look better straight, and more transparent (hopefully optional). It just looks weird empty like that, but I think would look cluttered if it was full. I don't know if I'd be using that....

Having said that, seeing how supurb the likes of Expose are, it's definitely a must have for Windows users - it improves your workflow so much, and once you start using it, you never know how you lived without it! :)

Yeah... Example:

You're browsing through some porn

Someone knocks on your door

If you don't have Expose:

Try really quickly to close all the windows, you'll never do it in time

Or if you have Expose:

Hit F11 and they magically all disappear :D

Yeah I agree with you on that. Windows ME was just a complete mess,

Windows.

WinME is not a complete mess. It runs just fine today. The same was not true when it was first released because the third party people were told that the 9x drivers would work just fine with ME. In 90% of the cases, that was true. But the other 10% gave 100% of the users tremendous problems, to the point where they blamed ME for everything from devices not working to stubbing their toe on the door frame of their bedroom. The stupid third party people, being the capitalists that they are, never bothered to actually test their stuff with ME, they just sold their products. It got to the point where OEMs told M$ to either fix the issues or they would discontinue selling windows with their machines. Of course, the actual problems with ME weren't M$'s issues, but maybe it was them that told the third party people the lies. Over time, manufacturers came to adjust their drivers so that they worked with ME, but by that time, it was too late. Too many people were burned way too bad to ever hope for recovery.

To ME's credit, it has never had a service pack released. How many other OSs can make that claim? The core routines were actually pretty stable, and only new security issues had to be addressed during it's time. If you get a system today, load ME fresh, get all updated drivers for your devices, ME runs as solid as any M$ product, maybe even a little more so. I will show you hundreds of desktops in business environments still using ME with zero issues. I had two myself, running current hardware, that went for over two years with no memory leaks and no BSODs. It was just in the last two months that I retired those machines for new machines on XP. And, quite honestly, I have had more BSODs with WinXP that I ever had with ME. I think I finally have those issues resolved, but it certainly has brought down my expectations of XP.

ME was really only '98 with system restore. ME didn't give you anything else in terms of features. It was much thinner than XP and didn't require near the resources the XP requires. Trying to draw comparisons between the two is like trying to compare a carburettor with a fuel injector. They have the same function, but they are vastly different.

The bad reputation for ME will, undoubtedly, live on for many years. But the problems were really with the drivers. That won't change people’s opinions, however.

my two cents

This is a poor use of Exposé.

If you want to hide everything in Windows you just press Windows Key + D.

At least use Exposé for something useful like it was designed for not just hiding stuff >_<
