If I buy this for local multiplayer, will I be able to connect different region 3DS' (in particular UK and USA) via Download play? I know it's region blocked for online play, so how about local (multi-cart, or single cart download play?)

Tried this online during the Sunday period. Got some serious lag though, so that's the final nail in the coffin of this game for me. Only me and my son own European 3DS' that I know of over here, so local multiplayer is a no, and with terrible slowing down during online play, well forget it. I find it so strange that Nintendo have limited the online to regions, instead of linking to someone near you regardless of region? What about us, a minority I admit, who travel a lot and are away from their 'region' most of the time?

Out of convenience I play my 3DS more than the Wii U. It's nice to wind down before going to sleep with an exhilarating hunt on MH4. Xenoblade Chronicles 3D takes up my time, too. Wii U gets used, generally, for local co-op games with family.
