I never talked about selling at a loss? I was referring to a hypothetical home console with the same power, that would be much cheaper but lacked hybrid functionality. Part of the reason why it's so expensive is the fact that it's a hybrid and therefore there's a high cost attached to the internals and manufacturing process. Hopefully there's a demand for such a device. I've just watched the Mario trailer again. I never a change of underwear....

A lot depends on how much demand there is for a hybrid. I can imagine that a £199 device for the same power and with joycons would be a better proposition for a lot of people. It reminds me of modern laptops which try to be tablets as well. Is there a market for that? Or do people prefer a dedicated version of each (or just one version). To people who are crying out for a hybrid, the value proposition is clear and it's a good sell, but if you're not looking for a hybrid then the price is extremely high. Ps. Did anyone actually pre-order from Gameseek? You bastards

@Serebii, do you have a source for Fire Emblem Warriors now being first party and internally developed? I thought it was by the same team that did Hyrule Warriors? @Dcubed 1,2 Switch has potential. Hopefully it can take off although I don't see it being mass market at that price unfortunately. If anyone of you pre-ordered at Gameseek you really are lucky (£199, price promise). I do wonder if they initially considered a lower price point but raised it after the feedback from the Switch trailer in October, which was overwhelmingly positive (they did the same with the 3DS). I seem to recall LKD also hearing that it would also be cheaper. On another note, I find it interesting that we have confirmation of Just Dance and Rayman Legends but nothing else from Ubisoft. I was hoping we'd get a sneak peak from them and not just EA (FIFA) and the Skyrim team. Oh, and apparently Skyrim is the 360 version and not the remaster on PS4?

One of the main cost factors will definitely be the joy cons and the tech that goes into them. I just hope that they've actually got some good gameplay ideas to actually utilise them.

I would be amazed if Pokemon moved to this system. I simply can't see them putting the next big Pokemon game on such an expensive console.

$299 is pre-tax remember, so closer to $400 with a game. Do you have any evidence of the same posters who said $299 was good suddenly changing their minds? Likewise with £280 (I.e. people on this board), or are you just generalising again?

Clam down homie. You realise the one great game on Switch is also coming out on Wii U, right? £280 is a lot of money. The console definitely has promise but £280 for those games...Na, I'm happy to wait it out Oh and as for launches, SNES (SMW), N64 (SM64), Xbox 360, Gamecube, Wii and OG Xbox all had fairly awesome launches

Man, when Reggie said "What games" he really meant it Hopefully we get more details closer to launch, especially from partners such as Ubisoft. I've decided against pre-ordering; it will definitely not sell at that price in this economy and at this time of year.

The more I think about it, the more I think that this thing will really struggle to sell at that price, especially in the UK where you can get a PS4S or a XBO for £199-£249. I'm genuinely not sure about whether or not it's even worth pre-ordering. I can wait for Zelda (or buy on Wii U). Even Splatoon and Mario Kart aren't massive draws for me now as you have to pay for online (which I was expecting anyway). I wish they spoke about VC

Welcome! I've never ordered a console for launch from ShopTo but their service is generally pretty fantastic. Why not preorder from two places and cancel one order ahead of launch if need be?
