The idea that The Guardian might be implicated in phone hacking is quite laughable. They would have to be incredibly stupid to have had any involvement in such activities given they have been running stories on such activities for 9 years now. The Daily Mail and The Sun on the other hand... I think it's just a matter of time before some wrongdoing is uncovered. The Daily Mail put more business the way of these very same private investigators than any other news outlet (and by quite some way). With The Sun, assuming such practices are indeed endemic to News International as a whole (i.e. the decisions were made above Editorial level) then it's only a matter of time before something is uncovered on them as well.

The entire readership could continue to buy it and it wouldn't matter, advertisers were pulling out because of pressure from customers. No advertisers = no paper. It would have become financially unviable. Some retailers were also talking about dropping it from their shelves due to public outcry. If a national supermarket publicly dropped the paper then it would only be a matter of time before others followed and it died.

Aren't Hotmail addresses now @live.com or @live.co.uk? Mine is. I've also got that horrendous @googlemail.com address that I need to get changed, the prefix I use makes it 25 characters long which is just silly. @gmail.com is much more sensible (and actually, if I use it I tend to get the emails eventually anyway).

So, in a nutshell, you think Hotmail is terrible because it wasn't as good 7 years ago as Gmail is now? Then, in an attempt to justify your obviously flawed opinion, you hop back on to Hotmail, spend 2 minutes with it and then declare that you were right? Google Mail is pretty cool, sure, but comparing it to Hotmail is like comparing Apples and Pears. Both are good, but different. Hotmail does indeed have some features that Google Mail does not, just like Google Mail has more advanced email labelling, the Priority Inbox and Labs. Hotmail has both Live Messenger and Facebook Chat built in to the client. There's also pre-made filters for pulling up emails from Social Networks, certain contacts or groups of contacts. You can right click and you can also drag + drop, which can be useful. There's probably others, but I don't really have any need to use the advanced features of either on a daily basis. Just taking a look at both of my spam boxes, Hotmail has one email. It's about penis enlargement. Gmail has 134, of which only 16 might actually be spam (I just picked out the addresses I didn't know, I didn't look at the content so that might be lower). That's 118 false positives in a month, including two important emails from my college. Poor form by any measure. I guess that does infer that Hotmail's spam filtering might be better, though it's hardly the most comprehensive test. Google Mail is massively customisable, and is fantastic for it, but to tell people they desperately need to switch to it to get away from the 'terrible' Hotmail is silly talk.

Yup. I got all of the expansions and the game for £7.50 off Steam a couple of months back. I bought Borderlands at launch but sold it after a while and I no longer have my saves so a new character is needed sadly. My current one might have an hour or two of game time tops.

Being totally honest, I'm sceptical. However, the website is put together well and whoever is writing is certainly quite knowledgeable and intelligent (which is far more than I was expecting and more than you normally get from a conspiracy site). I'll give it more of a read tomorrow.

For the peeps who have read the books and watched the series; is 'A Game of Thrones' a necessary read if I want to plough on ahead with the series? Are there plot lines/characters missing from the TV show that would make reading A Clash of Kings confusing? I'm not keen on reading A Game of Thrones if the series covered everything important and significant.

Watched the last two episodes back-to-back last night. Episode 9 was jaw-dropping. 10, not so much (and kinda predictable as said).

I don't really get the point. Vegetarianism, sure. Cruelty to animals and all that jazz. I don't agree, but I can see where they're coming from. Veganism... egg and dairy farms exploit animals (Sure, OK. Can't disagree with that...) therefore we should stop eating eggs and dairy products. WTH? Just source your eggs and dairy more responsibly. Picking an unfertilised egg up off the ground that some hen has laid is hardly exploitation. Buy some chickens, keep them as pets, give them a good life, eat the eggs. I do not get the exploitation problem there. Similar story with small-scale seasonal production of milk. I know quite a few Vegetarians (including my mother) and can cook some pretty awesome vegetarian meals. I'd struggle to go veggie for more than a few days though, it's all just stodge. After a few days I find myself falling back on eggs and nuts to put some texture back in, and shortly after that I've got a dirty big rib steak sat on my plate that's been slow cooked for 12 hours at 50'C, then slapped on a ridiculously hot grill for 2 minutes each side to char the outsides. About that time I remember why I will never be a veggie. Ahh, good times. Pretty sure it was the shop I work in that she wanted to blow up though. Thinking about it now, blowing up all that meat would result in more animals dying to replace the ones destroyed by the bomb. Irony, much?
