  1. It wasn't made by Valve, which probably explains the dated look. Turtle Rock Studios liscenced the Source engine to make this game, then Valve bought them in February. Turtle Rock likely didn't have the time or resources to make a proper revamp of the source engine (ala Team Fortress 2) and by the time Valve bought them it was a bit late to go back to the drawing board. It may seem a bit dated, but i'm still expecting it to be the best multiplayer game i've played this year.
  2. Yes in store, i just got back from mine with a copy. Will probably sell it on Monday/Tuesday to finance a copy of Banjo
  3. It's pretty easy untile you get to the hardest difficulty tbh. The Source engine also shows it's age a bit in this game, the Half Life 2 style graphics are a tad dated, they should have revamped the engine like they did for TF2.
  4. Kurtle's Xbox, RIP: NOVEMBER 2008
  5. Charles DeVaux was a dream walker. He could walk through the world of dreams, moving from person to person, watching what they were dreaming, changing it etc. Angela Petrelli is a dreamer. Her dreams are predictive of what will happen in the future. I think that's right anyway...
  6. It's all about the Samsung NC10 at the moment; http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/samsung-nc10.aspx Dunno if it's in your price range though?
  7. Have you seen a decent HD-DVD/Blu-Ray transfer on a good 1080p TV? They look incredible! DVDs will stick around because they're cheap, it's the only reason i find myself buying them still. I'm gonna be going Blu for my new releases, shop around and stuff like Iron Man can be had for a couple of quid more than the DVD. Just waiting on the pre/post-Christmas price drop on the players It depends what you're after then really. If you're happy with the freeview range on channels then look at Freesat, if not then Sky. Both will boost your signal by the same amount. One thing i will say about Freesat though is the range of channels isn't great and only the BBC actually have a HD channel on there at the moment.
  8. I'm running Freesat at the moment. Sky is better (obviously), but it costs a bomb. I guess it's down to how much TV you watch. Can you justify £60 a month just for TV channels?
  9. Got the PC demo now too, will have a blast at it tomorrow
  10. It's not 'missing the point', it's noticing how much potential there actually was in the game. If it does some things badly and could have done others better then it's a reviewer's job to point that out.
  11. Watching on the BBC from now on, they've caught up with the US now. IMO not worth the download every Tuesday when it's on BBC HD on a Wednesday.
  12. Matchmaking is the worst invention ever. I've always thought this, servers are SO much better! The option to choose between the two would be even better
  13. There's four campaigns at the moment. You played 2 missions (out of 5) from the first campaign. It's not a long game really, there should be more replay value in the full game though. The demo is quite limited, the maps are linear and there are weapons missing (i think). I'm just imagining how great a vampire-based sequel could be now :p I WANT IT!
  14. I'm more suprised to see Fallout 3 at third, with Fable 2 nowhere to be seen!
  15. Try this: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/273200/creative-fatal1ty-gamer-headset-15-/
  16. New instruments next month, they're pretty much just tweaked versions of the old ones. There's also this bad boy: If it comes out over here i'll consider buying it (assuming it's any good as an electronic kit, as it'd kill 2 birds...)
  17. I'm in the 'should have added a skip button' camp. It bored me too!
  18. From the demo i'd agree, melee combat was fiddly and the guns felt weak. Been thinking about this game actually, i might not pick it up on Friday after all. It all hangs on what price i can get it for from work, i'm not paying more than i paid for Gears. I'm sure it'll be fun, but in a 'play it for a few hours, get bored, stick it on the shelf' kind of way.
  19. I still get shaken up by this game, i didn't know it adapted at all the first time i played through it. Thought i knew where all the attacks would be coming from on the second play through, oh how wrong i was! The forest levels are the ones i'm really waiting on though. A city is bad enough, but a creepy haunted wood? That shit's gonna be crazy! Still the dilema though, 360 or PC? If it's cheap enough i guess i could buy it on both...
  20. It's set before then, between 2 and 3
  21. £29 in your local Sainsbury's boyo Got mine for <£25
  22. Damn straight Had a quick blast last night, it's freaking awesome! Should be better in co-op than single player though, the bots hint a little too much about where you're supposed to go and they cover your back a little too well. I found it stole some of the tension from the game
  23. Worked for me Downloading now. It'd have finished by now, but... Gears
  24. I've heard a few people say Gamestation have been pushing this, pretty crappy tactics if it's some sort of company-wide thing.
  25. I've just done it without entering one and the system seemed to accept it. Wierd I guess i'll see some time this weekend if they are gonna send it or not
