I readily do get the point. Society is more than just marxist money, society is the highest endeavour that mankind has created! Our affluence of lifestypes that are only available because we've followed commericial existences this long are by no means the end of it all. politics are quick to swallow inperative notions of genetical imperatives - quick to decides that life is merely a means to earn money. We do not exist to endure! We exist to experience. Ultimately we can just die and be done with it. What we make of it is through the connections and the constructions. We are immeasurable in our achievements because we continuouslythink. We evolve. My argument is that we need to achieve a level of excellene that is not measured in dollars or euros, but in terms that make humanistic sense! And what is so provocative about that? As a society we all live and work to ensure we are all 'happy' and safe, yet we do not questionthe evalations of happiness or safety. Our governments go to war regardless of whether we agree and they determine what is a veblen good or not. Did you know that it takes four-to-six indoor ferns to provide you oxigen for life? Did you know that oxigen has a taste? No, because you are taught not to need to know. Instead you (and I) are taught that what we need to know. It really doesn't take a genius to notice the discrepancies between what we are told by governments and what is reality. We all believe we are living in the future! We look at logs of the past and see it as humourous and archaic... but they were still people that endured times without the internet. Without tv! Phones, computergames. Go beyond that we had people without the telegraph, without plastic! without a clue as to how science or bacteria worked. We had kings and queens refusing to eat tomatoes because of their "obviously devilish texture!" To be honest, gay people and whatever various fetishes humankind has... It should just be on the backburner. We have INTELLIGENCE. Why is that so hard to be amazed by! BORED OF TYPING NOW. Lol I spelt impartive wrong. etc.

While we now have an 'open floor' arena, we are merely controlled more efficiently as a workforce. The lower rungs of the workforce go home relieved and proud of a hard day's work, pleased to earn their Man thousands of percentiles more money than they are actually paid. I cannot dispute Marx's effects on how things work, but I do not agree that they work in the favour of mankind. And we best not forget his prediction of capitalism's downfall! This way of society is a means to an end, and not a self-replicating, endless machine of productivity that we pretend it is. It is easy to forget that new generations are born under tutilage rather than immediate exposure, and as such we have constructed a conveyor belt of production that relies on itself. We have cultures shaped to further this model that ignores some crucial facts of the earth that we live on... And there's no quick fix! Modern philosophy should be obsessed with combatting this, We should be seeking a mother-nature model to aim towards... But our current clime is destined to at least drag itself on for another 50 years before we consider other ways of life. I just find it astonishing how readily people reject any alternative lifestyle, as if we've always been this way, when we've not. Technology advances our society, but at the same time the advances are focused, currently, on the consumerist way. We are driven to consume because, apparently, to not do so is to go against what this society is about. Why are we so devoid of greater goals!?!

But, similarly, Marx is a dickhead.

It's really hard to get the wine percentage! Got two pics of two different bottles of wine in two places and both are unreadable.

... Again, with the initiation of it all. You focus on the words I use, not the intention behind them. You focus on the words I use, not the meaning behind them. You assume that the meaning of the words is nothing more than a selfish act - that is, that my post amounts to nothing more than a desription of self-serving enjoyment. You overlook several things, primarily the "greater good" service. You overlook the clarity I added to the "anonymity" aspect. You overlook subtlety. You are unaware that ther are multiple facets to each poster's style. You assume that all my posts are unthought and immediate. You assume that I had not thought through the consequences. You are unable to reply or retaliate to my actual points. You see 'good' as ignorance. You see 'bad' as succumbing to temptation. You will see my previous sentance as a quotable one, and not even think that I have more words to back it up with. Judging by your assertion that the action, not the intention, reasion or reaction, is of primary importance, and you overlook the importance of honesty. If anything, you deem honesty worse than the deed itself. You refuse to refute any form of clarification to any of these points, and you refuse to read my words without instinctively searching for the counterarguement. You believe in the heirarchy, you trust in your superiors. You believe that the self comes first, and that anyone who succumbs to temptation is irredeemably wrong. I believe mostly opposite. If the point of this thread is confession, ergo (which is a short, but clever word, btw) the thread is about absolution and admittance of guilt. I spoke truthfully, I carified the nature of the OP's proposed ideas, and surely I proved that while one should be careful of the proposed anonymity, that I myself am watchful and alert for the forum. Your concern is with the fact that I went and checked the IP. You believe I did this merely for myself. There is no action one takes that isn't selfish in one way or another, but fortunately for everyone here I have very recently expressed how this very forum is in such close proximity to my heart that it practically pumps the blood around my body. I take your negativity of my actions extremely personally because I take it to be a distrust of my character. I use longer words because this is my SERIOUS VOICE that is only unleashed in times needy. My ultimate point is that, while "explioting" it, I pointed out the warning zones to people submitting confessions. Not once have I mentioned how this user account could just be used for bullshitting. PERSPECTIVE, people!

You are a deontological man. The action is more important than the outcome. I can tell you now that I am not this nor a teleological man - one who believes the outcomes to be more important than the action -- I am one who is concerned with the reason - the food that fuels man's action. My reason was a nurturing and protecting one, and I don't see you disputing my reasoning at all - just that I did a 'bad' thing. Just because you may not have done a 'bad' thing does not mean that others wouldn't too. As an upholder of the law, which unfortunately is what I've been granted, I like to think that it is my duty to ensure all, including other mods and admins, are not harmed. I inferred from this that it was my role to check the IP, for several reasons, some of which I have listed. I do not see how my argument is in anyway invalid. You even go to say that 'admitting' it is worse! That I confess of my deed when I have no need whatsoever to do so, is worse?! I tested the moral code to the fullest extent because that is the only way! I do not just mod you lot, I keep an eye on other admins/mods. Nobody is above the law, so therefore it is surely appropriate for me to know what other ads and mods have access to, in order to perhaps prevent future damages? My point of me being a GOOD guy is that it is better a good guy comes out and says this than a BAD guy secretly sits there and checks IPs and doesn't say anything. If you are to separate actions and reactions then look simply at me saying "ads and mods can see IPs of posts" and decide yourself whether that was a bad thing to say on my part. I am not talking about could either. I am talking about aught. And if the person is now aware of it then they now know they can trust me, because I do not mean them any harm and I have said nothing of it. If you still cannot see any positives whatsoever then I understand. We all have been indoctrinated in one way or another, our philosophical approach to morality is pretty much cemented by adolescence. Just don't be so ignorant to other ideas. And don't go saying that I think it's my god-given right to do what I did. I exposed the truth. FFS.

This thread is nearly THREE YEARS OLD. There aer terrapins and tornados younger than this! Or something. "Serious" discussion or closure. B'coz it's not that hard to make a NEW cool fun interesting hip groovy thread. But I appreciate the humour in the volved.

Diageo; the gap between the two things is hardly as massive as you think. It is in my nature as a mod to check all new members for their IPs. A relic of the days of recurrent trolling by previously banned members. If anything, the policing force are within their rights to know who they are policing. Such a stupid fucking argument. It goes from an argument of the role very quickly to an assault on the character of the one who did the deed. It's insulting.

I checked it because I could. I'm sure I wasn't/won't be the only one. At least I'm decent enough to admit that I did so, which is surely more favourable than other potential outcomes? If my behaviour was somehow actually negative, then please explain how. I've not outed anyone, I've not blackmailed anyone, and I've explained to people the risk of using the account to post 'annonymous' confessions. That's three plusses to me, I'd say. Good morality isn't to just sit there and do nothing.

A couple of 'best' moments; Played 2 games of chess with mike1988somethingorotherheneedsanewshorternamelol:P on facebook, really glad to get going with chess again and both games were really interesting. I listened to Bill Bryson's At Home to and from a trip to a pub a few miles away, where I was given an official invite to a murder mystery my mates are organising. I was astounded by the level of quality they're going for. Initially when they said they wanted £15 for the evening I was a bit put off, but they've really gone all-out -- I received an in-depth bio of my character, of the era the mystery is set, etc, and a proper explanation of the evening. Not only will 11 of us be playing a murder mystery but we will be served a 3-course meal of fine food accompanied with a CRATE of wine (and then some). It's sounding like a fantastic night. And during all this I'm catching up with old college friends and it all feels like 6th form all over again. A very good day for 'seven.

Lol :P nintendohnut I think you hit the nail on the head about being fearful of joining because of how intimate the chatter is here. Perhaps it's a rite of passage we've all endured? Perhaps we should have a 'meet the parents' meet :P It's very weird and alien to think that something I've said at some point is 'out there' without my control whatsoever. I was living with my mum when I joined, and in the beginning we only had 56k access after 6pm. I was allowed an hour a day. I can't remember the exact order of events, whether the first NE meet or me moving to sheffield happened first; all I remember is my mum afraid I had been taken in by some paedos! She quickly learned that it was no big deal. Now I live with my dad and have interesting conversations daily with him about things that arise on here - to the extent where he's taken an interest in my BISH stuff and even took some unfortunately pictures for it. P.S. Lol dyson! P.S. Lol dyson!

My argument is that there is a number of people who can do so, and there is no record of any of them doing so, so in not clarifying such an aspect to what is supposed to be 'annonymous' I am providing any potential confessor with the truth. I do not see why the truth is at all a bad thing. I point out that I, as an example of those who have access, should be considered trustworthy enough. I do not declare that I will endeavour to identify any confessions, merely that it is possible to do so. Some confessors may've been alarmed at such a realisation if they had previously admitted to a heinous act, and I believe they would be thankful that I admitted the ins-and-outs of how 'anonymity' works on this forum. if you disagree that I am a good guy, or that we are familiar people, then that is a personal matter. + Like for ell's post.

Well obviously I'm cool with that, and if that's the trail of reasoning then fuck it - vote: smeagol. This will change if mr-paul lies his face off, ofc.

How about fuck off and stop with the harassment and let people have fun/talk/etc

Fuck that shit, flink. I'm a good guy. I know shit about murderers. I HAVE FAITH OF STEEL. Plus I can never know who made which post. Besides, if people are encouraged to post anonymously they ought to know of the potential 'dangers' -- I'm doing a public favour by effectively saying that some people may be able to identify confessors. It's only fair that I reveal such info, isn't it? Point is; I don't give a shit who confesses what. WE'RE ALL BROS! Except the ones with boobs. They can be sisters. Or ho's. They can choose!

PHILO TIME! Wobbly World. I fucking love this video. Makes me forget about the maze our forefathers built around our lives. Makes me free from the box I was born in. Let's not delve too deep into the vid just yet. The one portion of that clip that I want to consider with you lot is the part where he talks about how we look but don't see. What do you overlook? In my room there's this double-pack of shirts I bought approx. 20 mins before I found out I wasn't needed for a 2nd interview for a job. I've leant them against my "wardrobe" (you can see it through my legs, kinda) that I literally didn't notice was there, despite passing it hundreds of times. I don't know where this thread goes. I really needed to share teh video. But if you have something you want to share, then feel free JAYSEVEN IS IN HIPPYMODE OMG
